{%hackmd theme-dark %} ###### tags: `Lore` `Work-In-Progress` # Timeline **Note to the shiptesters: this is incredibly WIP, none of this is final.** All dates will be nebulous for now since this is just a draft; after I speak with respective lore authorities on certain factions I will update this with more concrete dates. ### What the fuck is a calendar **Dumb Vlongurt Idea:** Dates based on a new calendar, thus simultaneously giving a exact timeframe without having to explicitly date things like that one time the captain shat himself in a mcdonalds to the 12th of february 2384 Anno Domini Nostri lesu Christi. This way things have a internally consistent timeline, and we don't have the whole "in how many years from today would it be reasonable to invent this entire fictional concept of bluespace" debate. This way we can also worldbuild a bit by having the calendar be based on a important historical event actually relevant to the shiptesting, and could even have another layer of worldbuilding by having some factions using different calendars based on a event important to that specific faction. Personal Vlongurt Suggestions for standard calendars, what it is based on, year that current rounds would be in in said calendar, and who uses said calendar: Federal Standard Calendar (FS) / Predating Standard (PdS) - Standardized Calendar used by SolGov and all factions in SoLGov's Sphere of influence. The year 1 FS started on the day that TerraGov, its signatories and its colonies federated into SolGov, with the day of unity also marking the new year. Current year is 502. it has 13 months of 28 days, each date having a consistent weekday associated, in addition to the weekless day of unity and a weekless census day every 4 years. Annum Era Astrae (AEA) / Annum Ante Astrae (AAA) - Alternate Calendar occasionally used in SolGov space, more closely mirroring the gregorian callendar with 12 months of irregular length and unfixed weekdays. It is also based around the federation of SolGov, and thus has a identical date of 502. It is primarily used by more the traditional-minded, and still finds widespread use in TerraGov territory. Worldly timelines will start at a particular point of interest and end at the point where they join the galactic community. Relativity? Never heard of herativity. You can't make me consider it. Preferred Date format: SYS-YYYYY-MM-DD SYS: The date system used. See [[Timekeeping]] for further reference. ### The Human Timeline todo: fit in genemodding tech, fit in moths - AAA-200 | **[[Night of Fire Incident]]** — The mass devastation of Earth by nuclear weapons. - All major powers dissolve overnight - Huge loss of life, orbital infrastructure is destroyed as well, and nuclear winter sets in - Countries that were adequately prepared for an event on this scale, most notably Switzerland, survive the disaster relatively unscathed. Other groups have enough survivors to recombine into new polities, such as the **Remnant Russo-Federation** and **Nova Brazilia**. - AAA-199 | **The Formation of the Terran Confederation** — The relatively intact Swiss Confederation and allied neighbors reconfederate into a new polity, named the **Terran Confederation**, with the mission statement of uniting all of humanity under a single banner so that an event on the scale of the [[Night of Fire Incident]] cannot happen again. - AAA-190 – 162 | **Annexation of Afro-Eurasia** — TerraGov slowly claims and integrates most of Africa and Eurasia, with the only point of resistance being the Remnant Russo-Federation. At this point, the Russians had grown entirely weary of war, and TerraGov was not willing to fight with them about it. The two remain on neutral terms as TerraGov focused on the land and the Russians looked to the skies. - AAA-158 – 130 | **War with Nova Brazilia** — TerraGov now seeked to reclaim the Americas. The northern-most parts of North America were annexed without much issue, but Central and South America posed great resistance, with Nova Brazilia, a nation formed from South American nations into a superpower. The two were initially open to a neutral relationship, but talks broke down and both sides saw eachother as great threats. A long, grueling period of war begins. - AAA-137 | **Station Deployed in Orbit of Venus** — The Russian Remnant, after a long sixty years, establish a station in orbit of Venus, named *Novyy Dom*. The station is fully self-sufficient, featuring artificial gravity (achieved with centripetal force), solar power arrays, modular construction, and a large hydroponics wing. - AAA-129 | **Nova Brazilia's Defeat** — After decades of brutal fighting, Nova Brazilia finally surrenders and are forced to agree to TerraGov's terms. - AAA-129 – 110 | **Integration** — Integration of former Nova Brazilia is as hard of a task as the war itself. Dissent is common, with records stating that at one point a riot happened once every two weeks for a period of six months. Significant portions of the former territory are turned into penal labor camps to place these offenders in. Many of these prisons are still in use today. - AAA-120 | **Station Deployed in Orbit of Deimos** — The Russian Remnant deploy a second station in orbit of Deimos, named *Peredysh Station*. This station is tethered to Deimos, keeping it anchored. This station includes most features of *Novyy Dom*, as well as a magnetic catapult and capture system for launching mining drones to mine belt asteroids. - AAA-119 | **The Voynich Charts** — A translation of the Voynich Manuscript by a TerraGov academic revealed something of great scientific interest, something that could potentially rewrite the laws of the universe entirely. Construction on a space vessel code-named *Doppler* begins. With TerraGov's eyes now looking towards space, it is only a matter of time until their mission statement of uniting humanity faces towards the Russians again. - AAA-90 | **Launch of Doppler** — The *Doppler* prototype is launched, and successfully performs a shrouding maneuver into *Bluespace*. Communications with *Doppler* are lost after surpassing 50% depth into Bluespace, and the vessel was never recovered. Despite the tragic loss, the data gathered by *Doppler* is considered a groundbreaking triumph, encouraging further research and development. - AAA-90 – 10 | **Bluespace Developments** - Shroud Limiters prevent shuttles from surpassing 50% shrouding into Bluespace, to prevent the loss of new shuttles. - Bluespace inside Sol is empty and calm, but the Voynich Manuscript described great turbulence and danger outside of Sol. - A "deadzone" is discovered at about where the Oort Cloud is, dubbed the Oort Barrier, spanning for a few AU. This deadzone prevents travel through the area in bluespace, but does not impede "Realspace" travel. - Great amounts of resources are invested into building relay infrastructure at the points where the deadzone starts and ends, forming convenient and (relatively) fast travel lanes in Realspace to get through the deadzone. - A new ship, built to survive the harsh conditions of the turbulent bluespace outside of Sol, is slowly constructed. About as big as a battleship, the *S-0451* (nicknamed the *Ericsson* by the design and construction team) is built to be sturdy, redundant, and easy to repair. - AAA-2 | **Circumventing the Wall** — *S-0451* travels past the deadzone through the Oort Relay, finding itself in what we know as the *Lepiton Storm*. The ship is to travel to the *Alpha Centauri* system and return back. It makes the trip safely, to global celebration. - AAA-1 | **Humanity, Whole** — After years of steady pressure, political shenanigans, and more, the Russian Remnants agree to confederate into the Terran Confederation. - At this point, *Novyy Dom* and *Peredysh Station* are large and powerful enough to be promoted to half- and quarter-cantonal status by themselves immediately. - FSC-1 | **SolGov Itself** — With the whole of the Sol system now under a single flag, and the secrets of Bluespace unlocked, the Terran Confederation renames itself to the [Solar Confederation](/DzB8ZELfQNOpkLMF4XDDwA), to reflect human unity. - FSC-250 | **First Contact** — First contact with alien species is made, bringing SolGov onto the galactic stage. Present Day ## im just dumping the moth thing here you fix it later. * "sol tech level reaches the ability to create genemashes as advanced as mothpeople" (this can be a vague approximation but should be decently well into the past) * "first discovery + any additional discoveries of isolated groups of mothpeople at their drop points (derelict arcologies, habitable planets, largely proximate to Sol or areas where Solarians are commn, etc) and their subsequent integration" (this should be a few generations, like 60 years or so after point one so that they have time to develop a vague languagelike thing but not enough to be very distinct) * "current day" (long enough ago from point 2 that mothpeople are widespread to the degree they are) ## Gameplay Changes
