# Mothpeople
Bug-mammal hybrids resembling and derived from Sol lepidopterans. All evidence that would point to their origin– which is presumably a genelab somewhere– has seemingly disappeared into thin air. Mothpeople themselves have no centralized culture or homeworld, leading to a fractured existence.
## Physiology
Insect-mammal humanoid hybrids. Their body is covered by something between shell and skin, and their fluff is somewhere between scale and fur. They have bones but not very good ones. They have wings that don't quite work in high gravity environments. They can't digest meat, yet they are capable of consuming and digesting most textiles.
Study of the mothperson genome shows it's composed of human, lepidopteran, and some level of unidentified genes, presumably engineered whole-cloth.
## Origin
Mothpeople were discovered independently multiples times across several isolated sites, and were themselves unable to give any useful information as to how they came to be in said location, with oral history simply hitting a wall within a few generations. The time of this 'wall' generally aligns with the time of Solarian genetic engineering advancements that would be necessary to produce something along the lines of mothpeople. Despite that, no records of such an operation exist, and nobody knows why mothpeople were engineered, if they were at all.
## Culture
Mothpeople have no one centralized culture. It's been long enough since their integration into larger spacewide society that there's no living memory of life on the backwater planets and abandoned arcologies that they were discovered on, and little remains from those times besides a pidgin language formed from the crude improvised tongues developed on those sites.
Because of this, they're usually client to other species, generally humans due to their shared origin system. Debate as to if mothpeople are another human geneline or their own species was what itself lead to the term 'Solarian', a catch-all for any sapient with origins within Sol.
## gameplay changes
- [X] Change moffic's description to reflect that it's a pidgin of the improvised languages developed by the different isolated moth groups prior to their introduction to #society.
