# Kalixcis

The second planet of the Bezuts system, the hot and humid planet of Kalixcis is the only habitable world in-system. Homeworld of both the Sarathi and Elzuose, and seat of the capital of the Pan-Gezena Federation, Kalixcis has been an integral world to the course of galactic history.

## Environment and Geography
Relatively near to the edge of the astronomical habitable zone closest to the binary stars of Bezuts, Kalixcis is a hot, but still liveable, world. The abundance of water on the world also causes it to be, on average, very humid. This mix of heat and humidity makes the world slightly unpleasant for humans on average, but both the native Sarathi and Elzu are quite comfortable in such environments.

Around 70% of the planet's surface is covered in water, with the land separated into two very large continents, Gezena and Zohil. The Antecannal Ocean, to the east of Gezena and the west of Zohil, is the smaller of the oceans that separate the continents, and dotted with chains of small islands. The Ssalranic Ocean, on the west of Gezena and the east of Zohil, is the larger, taking up an entire hemisphere of the planet and being home to very few islands, all of which are directly off the coast of either continent.

Most of the land on Kalixcis is covered in jungle. Most coastal parts of the world are lined with marshes and swamps. Along the equator of the planet, however, is a massive desert known as the Pale Ring. The Pale Ring exists on both continents, and is one of the least densely populated regions of the planet. To the north and south of the planet, close to the poles, the jungle transitions into temperate rainforest, a much more comfortable climate for humans and other races which prefer colder climates.

## Geopolitical Situation
There are four separate government entities on Kalixcis, however only two of them have any actually notable interstellar presence. The two actually relevant to galactic politics are the Pan-Gezena Federation and the Zohil Explorat. The two not relevant are the Zohil Houses and the Antecannal League.

### The Pan-Gezena Federation
The Pan-Gezena Federation is a democratic republic that takes up most of the continent of Gezena and has numerous colonies throughout known space. They cling strongly to their cultural ideals of personal freedoms and liberty above all. While those may be their tenants, the PGF fields what is theorized to be the strongest military in the known galaxy and has been subject to criticism for their tendancy to impose those ideals on any small colonies that do not share them, by force. The PGF is also infamous for non-Nanotrasen corporations having a large amount of sway with the federal government.

### The Antecannal League
The Antecannal League is a union of small Kalixcian nations along the southern coast of the Antecannal Ocean on both continents which banded together to both colonize the stars and to stand against the two megastates on Kalixcis that were the PGF and Zohil. As such, Zohil has an incredibly diverse culture, as well as several small colonies out in other systems. Ideology varies from state to state, but mostly revolves around not being pushed around by larger political entities.

### The Zale Houses
The Zale Houses are a triple monarchy ruled by three royal families sharing power. It is located on the Zale Peninsula on the continent of Gezena. All three of these royal families have existed since Kalixcis was at a medieval level of technology, and their culture revolves around their pride in their extensive history and tradition. Zale does not maintain colonies outside of the Bezuts system. Zale is currently in a very unstable state, with unrest against the outdated ideas of monarchy growing amongst the lower and middle classes.

### The Zohil Explorat
Once the United Republics of Free Zohil, taking up the majority of the continent of Zohil, the Zohil Explorat was born of a revolution in FSF422. The URFZ was a long-time rival of the PGF since before spaceflight was discovered on Kalixcis, and maintained many colonies throughout known space before it fell to anarchy and revolution over half a century ago. Out of the ashes rose the fringe religious organization known as the Astrometry Initiative, who worship certain astronomical phenomena and who reformed Zohil into an Astrometric theocracy. Since then, there has been very little direct contact from Zohil. The new Zohil regime is incredibly secretive and xenophobic, and they have moved their capital and all administrative functions from Kalixcis to a location known as the "Blueflame", the location of which is unknown. They maintain a fleet of extremely advanced stealth ships, and are overtly hostile to the PGF and anyone else who trespasses in their territory, and have become somewhat of a boogeyman out on the Frontier.

## Society

### Culture
Kalixcian culture is, relative to the majority of cultures in the galaxy, quite progressive and flexible. Families and names are chosen by the individual when they are old enough to, rather than biologically. Most Kalixcians go through multiple families throughout their lifespans until they find one that fits.

Kalixcian culture has accepted homosexuality and gender equality since far before they achieved spaceflight, and have done the same with racial equality since just as early due to the fact that both the Elzuose and Sarathi evolved on it at around the same time.

Kalixcian culture is all about individual choice and freedoms, and while the degree to which Kalixcians enjoy this is based on which nation they live in, all Kalixcians enjoy and believe in these ideals to some degree.

### Religion
Kalixcis is home to both one religion and many at the same time. Within the Kalixcian religion, it is believed that *all* gods, worshipped by *any* religion, are real, and the power of individual gods is directly related to what their sphere of influence regards and how many worshippers they have. As such, all worship is accepted, to varying degrees, and Kalixcis does not have a history of religious wars. This has resulted in the worship of some gods, such as Nar'sie and Ratvar, which is frowned upon in other parts of the galaxy, to be accepted on Kalixcis as long as they remain peaceful.

FS 33 - Nanotrasen is founded, a joint venture between the URFZ and SolGov
FS 80 - Due to the advancement of bluespace technology, the PGF manages to travel to Teceti for the first time

FS 483 - The Gorlex Marauders kill several PGF citizens during an attack on Nanotrasen, and as a result the PGF Navy launches nuclear strikes against several Syndicate bases, all of which are Gorlex
FS 497 - The ICW ends in a stalemate
