We need to do everything we can to protect it." >  — Excerpt from former Prime Minister Azazos' Inauguration Address, 1550 KCE. --- The **Pan-Gezena Federation (P.G.F. or PGF)**, sometimes referred to as simply Gezena or the Federation, is a nation on the planet Kalixcis in the Bezuts system. The polity is a federal republic, consisting of states and unincorporated holdings. Gezena is considered to be one of the largest and most powerful nations of the modern day, with a military consistently ranked as the strongest in the known galaxy and a highly developed economy. ## Governmental Structure The Pan-Gezena Federation consists of many states of varying sizes and numerous holdings, which are unincorporated colonies, stations, and uninhabited planets in several locations. Though these states have some degree of self-governance, federal-level legislation is enforced across the entirety of the Federation. The nation is split into two branches, the Legislative Branch and the Executive Branch. Both are located at Federation City, a purpose-build administrated complex at the heart of Gezena with a city built up around it. - Legislative Branch - The National Diet - The National Diet is a Unicameral Legislature with a fair amount of power. - Each state elects two representatives to the Diet, while each holding elects one. Representatives serve a term of 6 years, and can be re-elected any number of times. - The Diet votes on new laws and other matters involving the governance of the nation. - Each state has its own smaller State Diet to pass laws on a state level covering anything federal law does not, however holdings do not have this, instead having to follow federal law to the letter until they grow large enough to become a state. - Executive Branch - Office of the President - The President acts as a ceremonial leader, as well as Commander-In-Chief of the military. - They are elected by a general population vote. Every PGF citizen above the age of 18 is allowed to cast a vote for the Presidential Election. - The President serves a term of 8 years. They are not able to be re-elected. - Council of Ministers - A council of officials elected by the Diet. - A completely new council is selected upon the appointment of a new President, typically once every 8 years at the same time as the Presidential Election. - Each minister controls a specific aspect of the government. For example, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Space Colonization, etc. Each minister also has their own department which they lead. - While the Diet votes on new laws, the ministers have the ability to vote to veto a law that passed the Diet, or write a new law for the Diet to look over and vote on. ## Ideology Gezenan ideology revolves around two things; freedom and national pride. Gezenan schools reinforce within children the idea that freedom is the greatest thing in the universe, and that the PGF is the freest, and thus greatest nation in the known galaxy. Other factions typically find this inherent nationalism to be obnoxious and foolish, but it is quite effective when it comes to ensuring the population supports the government in nearly all things.
