# Minutes
## Volunteer self-introduction
Each person may use **1-2 minutes** for self-introduction, which may include: (1) name, (2) occupation / major / class, (3) interest of technical development, (4) personal interest / hobby, (5) other.
> (If you want the team to know more about you, you can provide a personal web page or social network handle after your name.)
- [x] Yung-Yu Chen (intro: https://yyc.solvcon.net/)
- [x] Po-Yu Liu (interested in software engineering and working on CV for badminton in our lab)
- [x] Yu-Fang Hu (a senior in NYCU major in CS, https://yuko29.github.io/)
- [x] Jenny Pei-Chen Yen (CS studen in NYCU, interest in web/software engineering. Love outdoor event, especially hiking )
- [ ] Y-Lun Hsu (interesting in software engineering and working as undergraduate research assistant in Reinforcement Learning Lab)
- [x] Hong-Wei Wu (senior student in NYCU, major in CS ~ interested in software engineering as well ! Currently, work on a piecework basis)
- [x] Sophi Yu
- [x] Peter Li
- [ ] Your name (intro: homepage) (Copy this line to keep it at the bottom)
## Code to write and share
- [HW] Data science applications to solve real-world problems.
- Use OpenCV to detect finger movement and interact with images.
- [YH] Use Python QT to developed a radio player in 3 days. But Python QT is not easy to maintain. The code base does not look clear.
- I am interested in learning more about how to modularize.
- I am interested in making the project a talk to share.
- [PL] I am going to use QT too. Hope to talk more with YH.
- I did a LINE bot earilier this year. It can download youtube videos.
- Unity is also interesting.
- Game development is oftentimes a dream of CS students.
- [Jenny] Experienced challenge when finding out conflict during system integration.
- Communication and alignment are important in technical development.
## Where to meet
Venue candidates:
- gathertown: Yu Fang had good experience during COSCUP and SITCON.
- Yung-Yu the venue can be totally customized.
- Po-Yu also used it a while back. It is more suitable for parallel sessions. It supports poster.
- If there is only one session, it may not be necessary.
- Peter thinks this new toy looks fun.
- Physical venue:
- Need wifi, COVID prevention measures
-

# What is sciwork@nycu
Sciwork plans to work with NYCU CCCA and hosts the events in the Guangfu campus every other week. The students and researchers on campus will be a major audience. We would also like to invite professionals around the Science Park and the campus. So the tentative name for the event is sciwork@nycu.
Open source is a powerful framework for collaboration. Source code is the vehicle of making software. Focusing on it minimizes the friction in the work, and improves productive. Its hands-on nature is also a good way to help juniors to get up to speed. But open-source community is usually loosely connected on the Internet. People who are familiar with the online culture like it, but it is a barrier to others. sciwork@nycu will bring open-source community to a concrete form of coding sprints.
sciwork@nycu welcomes all open-source projects, but will focus on those for scientific, numerical, and engineering work. Open source is not just for information technology. We believe information technology is made for improving productivity of all of our work, and science is one important application. If you do science or practice engineering, and want to write computer programs, we love to hear from you.
