# FAQ for Freight Trust Network
last updated: 5/04/2020 5:26pm PST
Token information is in the section titled '$EDI Token Contract information'[edi](/6SkTtXlATiOm7MXdAmjrnw)
Circulating Supply is 161,000,000 after pleged nodes that are staking. These tokens are in wallets as of right now while we plan our migration to contract-based staking (v2). Staking refers to Master Nodes as well.

## Background on Freight Trust (history)
> synopsis
Block Array was the original project, after some differences in how to deal with the approaches with our original protocol (i.e. legal recognition of our process) We bought out them out and moved from Chattanooga, TN to Los Angeles, CA and have since developed further. We have a new team (contractors) and new advisors. FreightTrust is a new legal entity that aquired the IP from block array inc. block array inc, will be offically dissolved this year (2020) and its remaining liabilites discharged. Freight Trust is not block array, but does have the same founder (sam bacha). We have a new advisor, Ron Volpe who just joined from TradeShift. Ron's experience as Chief of Supply Chain at TradeShift and Kraft (Global Head) is invaluable in our efforts to sell to enterprise clients.
### Background on $EDI
$ARY was original token
BOL was swapped for ARY at 1:1
then, BOL was wapped to EDI for 1:1.35 (see RFC4) - the issue being how pricing works on a per kilobyte basis: EDI Transactions are priced per kilobyte at the rate determined by PEM. PEM is fixed at the same rate as defined in the [ethereum yellow paper](https://ethereum.github.io/yellowpaper/paper.pdf)[Designing Smart Contracts With Free Will (A2) - Philip Daian](/19JRdfHQS32lY1XcuOyvew)
[Master Node Guidelines](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Zr_infzxwRTgClBkYpjmrLxS1SPAD8Xl5axIDlrEmbc/edit?ouid=108050493561476247890&usp=sheets_home&ths=true)
The purpose of $EDI is to enable a dual-unit mechanism of exchange that enables:
1. decoupling of transaction from velocity
2. enforce the emergent properties of permissionless distributed ledgers (i.e cryptocurrencies gain their value from this)
3. enable business transaction use of permissioned ledgers
4. transact and pay for EDI transactions on a per kilobyte basis, which is what the industry standard for pricing models exist and how ethereum prices kilobyte transactions at a fixed rate (i.e. gas cost)
5. Enable a portion of the overall network value to acrue to early adopters
The Native Chain Asset (hence forth NCA) is a unit of contract execution to be used in processing transactions interacting with our protocol. For a better understanding of our propreitary protocol see our medium post on contract mechanics here:
