'Minecraft' might get Banned in Turkey because it is too Violent

In a move that is pure ridiculousness, Turkey wants to ban Minecraft because its Family and Social Policies Ministry believes it is too violent for kids. It's true that a game where you build fortresses and pound trees is being targeted for its content because in Survival Mode, you have to defend yourself from the zombie-like Mobs and sometimes that requires you to kill them. According to the region's Hurriyet Daily News reports, the Ministry also warns that kids could confuse Minecraft's blocky pixels-filled landscapes with the real world which would make them think that torturing animals was totally fine. Sure; okay. FREHTML5 Why did the company first look at Microsoft's $2.5billion purchase? To see whether the game facilitated violence against women. Its heart was right from the beginning.

Even if you have an understanding of Minecraft, it is likely that the whole concept seems too strange to be real. However, that's not the situation. As VentureBeat notes, Turkey would be the first country to ban the game in the event that the Ministry's petition is successful, but it doesn't have a track record of prohibiting games (you know,, actual violent ones). Given the government's history of preventing access to sites like Twitter and YouTube it's not clear whether it'll follow the same pattern as Mojang's baby.
