# Adblocking

Adblocking usage has increased from 1% to 9.26% between 2002 and 2009. While digital video ads offer a very low return on investment, print advertisements offer a high return per investment.
Advertisements help ensure that sellers are legitimate because only legitimate sellers are confident that their ads will have a high return on investment. Advertisement spending is called signaling because it shows buyers that the seller has the money to advertise.
In addition, a buyer’s estimation of advertisement expense influences their perception of brand quality, which is directly related to a participant’s willingness to purchase a brand. Unfortunately, signaling breaks down when low-quality sellers mimick high-quality sellers. Users are becoming more and more blind to web ads.
I was surprised that as ad targeting increases, the value of advertisements decreases because ads decrease in quality. I prefer to view advertisements that are not targeted to me because they are less distracting. I usually use an adblocker on my computer, which is very convenient for Youtube so I don’t have to watch 30-second advertisements before videos. I was surprised that reputable websites like the New York Times were subjected to ransomware attacks. I have previously investigated forms of malware such as ransomware and scareware, and I found that it was best not to pay the ransom, but to contact a professional.
I viewed AdBlock Plus’ acceptable ads program as a positive because it allows me to block bad advertisements but support my favorite websites by seeing positive ads.
