# The Problem
Prisoners have no way of increasing their revenue. They have a flat 25 credit paycheck, and that is all they are granted to purchase things from their vendor.
They also lack things to purchase. Bad food, and maybe cigarettes, is all they are offered.
This means Prisoners are essentially lacking in the discussion around economy, where they are expected to participate in it, but have no say in it.
# The Proposal
Prisoners (and Prison IDs) lose their paychecks entirely and is completely divorced from the credit economy of the game. Instead they use Mining Points as their form of currency.
- TL;DR; Ability to travel to and from Labor Camp and Permabrig, all Vending Machines use Mining Points, a Metal Detector on the Labor shuttle, and the items you can purchase in Vendors.
## Goals
1. Give Prisoners a currency that they can produce themselves through natural means
2. Make vending purchases in Prison worth something.
3. Make Labor Camp more enjoyable for Prisoners (roundstart and gulagged).
4. Add Labor Camp as something Prisoners can do at any time.
## Non-Goals
1. Make it easier to escape Permabrig.
2. Remove interactions between Prisoners.
## The Works
1. Labor Camp and Permabrig are attached together- Prisoners can go back and forth from Permabrig to Labor Camp.
2. Vending Machines will cost Mining Points instead of Credits
3. Mining Points are gathered from the Ore Snatcher in the Labor camp shuttle
4. A Metal Detector on the Labor Camp shuttle prevents being able to move items to and from the Labor Camp, such as pickaxes and internals.
### On-station vendors
On-station vendors will allow you to buy food, cigarettes, drinks, etc.
These are harmless things that you will have to go mine for, or barter with other Prisoners to buy for you.
Bonus points if Prison food would include an expansion on Ramen into ingredients that uses soup mechanics as cool additional flavortext.
### Mining vendors
Mining vendors will have equipment you use for mining. Large Internals, mesons, GPS', pickaxes, suits, and one-time use mining transfer point cards.
#### Starting Items
The starting items will be 3 sets of an Improvised Pickaxe and an emergency oxygen tank, with an oxygen canister for refilling. Anything further should be purchased with Mining Points.
This means that people will have to sacrifice longer Labor Camp times for better equipment, in exchange for things to barter with other Prisoners.
