She is a secretive spellcaster and works behind the scenes to help humanity. * Pomme was not strong enough, so she gave the child freedom to live by herself. * The story begins with Pomme wanting to find her creator. She will traverse different lands to find clues to her whereabouts. * Pomme has the power to give life to objects and loves to tinker with robotics. * People who have heard about the apple have discovered Pomme’s existence. * They actively try to capture Pomme for her power. * The Leader of the organisation plans to use her Powers to create themselves a new set of parents (they are an orphan). --- ## Game Flow #### Chris * Our main audience are ages between 12 - 20. The majority of gamers are younger, however I feel the cute and wholesome story can be enjoyed by older people. * Most games are played on a smart phone or console, with 70% of gamers using a smartphone to play their games. The simplistic style could be fit into mobile for more profit and engagement. * This game would be enjoyed by many, since it’s an RPG & Adventure which is listed as the 3rd & 2nd most popular game genre in the recent years. * To fit the (possibly) large game file, I feel it is best to optimise the game for console or PC. This aspect will also contribute into clothing mechanics and styling your character. * In the game, the main character Pomme will not be the one to battle it out with the enemies, but her companions who fight for them. * Pomme is a magical traveller with the ability to control machines and robots to fight and defend for them. * The gameplay will not be turn-based due to its slower and methodical paced gameplay, but will be a high action paced combat game, that keeps gamers on the edge of their seats. --- ## World #### Francis Since the gameplay is fast and interactive, the environment would be quite spacious, and filled with respawning monsters. The world of Tales of Pommes is divided in separate regions that Pomme has to complete in order to get through to the final boss. * General aesthetic of the world-environment is quite bubbly, very colourful to give it a child-friendly feel. * The four regions designed catered to their respective element (fire, water etc.) * Inside the world environment, Pomme will encounter area bosses. The structure of these are anime RPG-styled. --- ## Interface #### Jess * The UI in Tale of Pomme will be minimalist in design and not take up too much space on the in-game screen as the we want a focus on gameplay. * The same design element applies to game settings tabs, it is important that UI is as uncluttered as possible so that navigating menus etc feels easy to use. * During loading screens there will be a little animated icon of either an apple or one of Pomme’s robots to keep the theme of the game consistent. * The main HUD details will be a mini-map, robot/ability cooldowns and a HP/stamina bar. * The ability UI will have different icons depending on the robots that Pomme uses, once an ability is used it will go on cooldown and have a visual to show when it can be used again. ![](https://i.imgur.com/AS2AojE.gif) --- ## Gameplay Mechanics #### Jess * Here I have made a short stopframe animation of what the loading icon might look like. * The reason that I have used an apple instead of a robot is because I think that it better reflects the origin of Pomme. * However, I do think that other icons including robots would work just as well. --- ## Enemies #### Francis Catered towards younger audiences, so the target is to not make them too fierce-looking. These are some ideas: * Common monsters - Little ghosts, spirits (fire, water, dark etc.), ‘haunted’ pumpkins, apples, tomatoes, bombs * Regional area bosses - Larger versions of the common monsters. There will be four area bosses, each with a different type. * Final boss - Plot twist! Pomme’s long lost childhood friend. --- ## Cutscenes #### Jess * Most cutscenes will be interactive and dialogue based, however at main plot points throughout the story cutscenes will be heavily visual. * Players will be allowed to skip dialogue in cutscenes if necessary. * You will be able to choose different responses during dialogue cutscenes, similar to games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Genshin Impact. * The opening cutscene will show Pomme being created from apples, later cutting to a scene of her using her powers and tinkering with robotics. --- ## Robot Designs #### Jess * Heals and protects Pomme using mist. * Floats around and uses its claw arms to attack and pick up enemies. * Resembles an egg as it’s one of Pomme’s favourite foods. * Loves to help locals by cooking meals. ![](https://i.imgur.com/fA9ol9F.jpg) #### Moosa * Charged Projectile laser beams. * Offensive styled robot used for effectively taking out long ranged enemies. * Uses its long arms and legs to be fast and mobile. Best friends since very young. * Defensive-type - She casts a shield around her peer robots and prevents them from taking damage for some time. * Often mistaken for a human child due to her looks. ![](https://i.imgur.com/t86ckBS.png) #### Chris * Shoots pumpkin seeds that cause DMG and can sprout roots, slowing enemy movement. * Flies and hovers around Pomme. * The arm is for item holding. ![](https://i.imgur.com/3jbn8gE.jpg) #### Lucy * Has an aireal view of Pomme at all times scoping out enemys and any near by items that could be useful for her. * Stores useful information about said enemys that the user can can access like a Pokedex for example. * Loves to swoop down and mess with the other robot sby picking them up and flying them high. Has a very mischeivous personality. ![](https://i.imgur.com/ohn7yi8.jpg) --- ## Logo and Title ### Lucy and Chris * Since the game is going to have a fantasy type art style I wanted to make a logo that would follow that style. * Since Pomme was created from an apple I decided I was going to base the logo around that and since Pomme is a in to mechanical tech I felt that encorporating that in to the logo would fit well. * Started by sketching out two apple desgins - one being and apple that is unravelling with Pomme's finger tips peaking out. It could be used for promotional purposes and it showcases all our robots within a single image. * To improve, I feel that I should've drawn Pomme in a battle pose with all the robots joining the fight. --- # End
