Celebrating three years of QRL and quantum computing progress since QRL genesis. Four years ago on this momentous day, we launched QRL after two full years of intense development, as the first batteries-included quantum secure enterprise-grade blockchain backed by the stateful signature scheme XMSS, as opposed to ECDSA found in many blockchains including Bitcoin and Ethereum. intro paragraph Ryan note: Jack, similar to what you did here in last years post here (https://www.theqrl.org/blog/celebrating-three-years-of-qrl/), #1- can you hit home in this section on progress we have made similar to that building in this last year? #2- After this section- let's again cover quantum progress based on the top 2-3 things that happened in the last yr QUANTUM COMPUTING HIGHLIGHTS OVER FOUR YEARS *insert here* #3- You can you hit on PW strength of the future here (section below is copy/paste from past blog section which we can pull from some into this blog) THE FUTURE OF POST-QUANTUM RESISTANT BLOCKCHAINS As quantum computers scale, post-quantum cryptographic protocols must be implemented on public blockchains to ensure the security of transactions from quantum theft - not just now but to last for the coming decades. Since our genesis block two million blocks ago, the QRL blockchain has performed uninterrupted. Using NIST-approved cryptography to secure payments and communication, our chain is always available, open sourced, and fully decentralised. Looking to the future, simply being a reliable completely post-quantum secure means of exchange isn’t enough within the plurality of the current public blockchain ecosystem. The future of the QRL protocol is an environmentally friendly proof-of-stake driven public blockchain, a fully decentralised network, offering users provably post-quantum secure transactions and Turing complete smart contract capabilities. Opening the door to provably-quantum secure Web3 functionality enables new and uniquely secure use-cases such as: dApps, DeFi applications, quantum-secure stablecoins, NFTs, eternal quantum-secure contracts, and metaverse applications. The QRL ecosystem being developed will allow developers to bring quantum-secure blockchain code, limited only by their imagination. Choosing to implement the EVM into the QRL protocol enables smart contract compatibility and interoperability with other EVM chains. After years of research, development, and protocol iterations, we are extremely excited to see what novel decentralised systems and applications will be built on the QRL protocol by… you! ----- Hackathon- last section ### QRL HACKATHON 2022 & BEYOND ![](https://i.imgur.com/4pU8qix.jpg) We're now just months away from our upcoming in-person Hackathon this September. Take part in the QRL Hackathon 2022, where We'll be releasing __ _? devnet_ __ for our PoS consensus and EVM smart contracts. You'll want to be there -> REGISTER NOW (note: insert Register Now CTA next to this line once it's ready) QRL Hackathon 2022 will be a great place for developers, artists, writers, or anyone else alike to come together for an intimate multiday event with direct team interaction and to be part of the future of post-quantum resistant blockchain ecosystems. Potential ideas for projects to get your creative juices flowing for the Hackathon could be: -building and/or porting Web3 applications -translating documentation -media creation -gaming NFT creation -decentralized exchanges -establishing DAO & Governance on the QRL network -and much more ### A TOAST TO OUR COMMUNITY ![](https://i.imgur.com/4esG3cP.gif) We can't hand over the mic (our keyboard) for this 4th anniversary speech (blog post) until we tip our hat in appreciation to the diverse and committed community members, contributors, and moderators who all make the community beneficial to be involved in day to day.
