- [Amanieu d'Antras](https://github.com/Amanieu) (self-employed contractor, Huawei)
- [Felix Klock](https://github.com/pnkfelix) (Amazon AWS)
- [lcnr](https://github.com/lcnr)
- [scottmcm](https://github.com/scottmcm) (Microsoft)
- [Michael Goulet](https://github.com/compiler-errors) (Amazon AWS)
- [Santiago Pastorino](https://github.com/spastorino) (self-employed contractor, Futurewei)
- [Jubilee](https://github.com/workingjubilee) ([TCDI](https://www.tcdi.com/))
- [Mara Bos](https://github.com/m-ou-se)
## Initial Team Nominations
### T-compiler
- Mara (accepted)
- because of the work she's done in understanding and calming tensions during the recent drama events, and in recognition that she's someone folks trust to represent their issues.
- lcnr (accepted)
- They've clearly already been recognized as being suited for Rust governance work and presumably having some interest in it. They were one of the nominees for the compiler team's council representative and has also been the team's alternate.
- ~~TC~~ (wasn't eligible at the time)
- TC mentioned that this was something he's willing to do if needed. TC has been an active participant in some of the recent governance discussions topics so this enthusiasm and willingness to contribute to governance is already apparent. While TC and I (eholk) haven't agreed on everything, I believe his opinions came from an honest desire to do what's best for the project and through those discussions we were able to reach a point of mutual respect and better understanding of different positions.
- I haven't worked with TC for very long but he has a wonderful tendency to focus on what the "next steps" should be to make progress on any issue. If the Project is an engine, TC is one of the oils keeping us running. (from Lokathor)
- oli: I don't have a preference between the three nominees on a personal level, but think that TC has the least other preexisting obligations, and is already focusing on managing discussions and keeping people informed.
### T-crates.io
We are choosing not to nominate anyone. Please add this to our demerits when considering whether we deserve to remain a top-level team (we don't think we do 😉 we would be happy to have our representation combined with another team, eventually)
### T-devtools
No nominations
### T-infra
- ~~Niko~~ (declined)
- Niko's historic role in leadership and subsequent break from it makes us confident that Niko has both the required overview of project wide needs while being far enough removed from them to bring "fresh" ideas.
* Felix (accepted)
- Felix has had a role in leadership positions, and has shown the ability to take into consideration and adopt others' interests.
* Mara (accepted)
- Mara has shown a skill at being in a leadership positions and doing the hard work of talking with a *wide* range of voices in the project to try to understand project sentiment (and not just adopting her own opinions as "project opinion")
* ~~Wesley~~ (declined)
- Recognition of Wesley's reputation for being a voice of calm and consideration in the project.
* ~~Jan-Erik~~ (declined)
- Recognition of Jan-Erik's service in the core team and community team, and the possibility that this service could be continued
The following nominees were called out as having less experience in "top-level governance" but still having a reputation for leadership (both technical and otherwise) and t-infra's desire that we grow more voices in project leadership.
* ~~Oli~~ (Oli declined the nomination)
- A recognition of Oli's long standing within the project and their reputation for being a moderating voice (and of course their new role as a moderator)
* Amanieu (accepted)
- Amanieu's long positive standing in the project as well as recent recognition of them becoming co-lead of libs.
### T-lang
* Michael Goulet (compiler-error) (accepted)
- In my experience Michael has exceptional collaboration & communication skills. I have confidence that Michael has the skill needed to carefully listen to and understand the needs of other project members and be an effective advocate for them within the foundation. Michael is also involved in multiple teams across t-compiler and t-lang and their subteams. In these roles michael often helps pass information along to those who need it, which is a core component of the project director role. I feel like he has his finger to the pulse of the project. All of this together makes me fairly confident that he would be an effective project director.
- @Michael Goulet (compiler-errors) would be a fantastic choice. +1 if he wants the job. The only drawback would be (as always) more things on his calendar that might prevent more of the great software that he writes from being written.
- Every time I've had a compiler error, it's been fixed in an effective and timely manner by compiler-errors
- and many positive reactions
* Santiago Pastorino (accepted)
* He's remarkably good at herding cats, taking responsibility for wrangling things and getting them over the finish line. He communicates very well and very thoroughly on a variety of topics.
### T-launching-pad
One nomination - Jake/Jakob Degen. (accepted)
> I'd like to nominate @Jak{e,ob} Degen. Jake has expressed a lot of ideas to me about how the Foundation can better support Rust project developers, in terms of both developer workflows and team processes, and IMO they have been very well thought out and effectively communicated.
>
> A lot of Jake's ideas resonate with my own ambitions for the Foundation that never had a chance to come to fruition while the organization was getting started. I think both the board and the project would benefit greatly from Jake's energy and perspective.
### T-libs
- @scottmcm. (accepted)
- "i don't really know how to explain it, but i always feel great after interacting with them. and importantly, i feel like they are always willing to be transparent, which i feel is a good quality to have as a project director. with this nomination, i hope to add more trust to the role. (and i don't mean to imply that it is lacking or missing currently, i just mean that trust is something i value highly and i have heaps of it for scottmcm. :-))"
- @Jubilee. (accepted)
- "i feel like they have a unique but often productive perspective/approach that would be useful in the context of representing the project. with this nomination, i hope to add fresh perspective and thoughtfulness to the project director role. namely, in my interactions with @Jubilee, i've always come away from them noting how thoughtful and earnest the interaction was. i feel that these would be good qualities to have in a project director."
