# Project Director Elections Retrospective 2024 ## Candidate statements TC collected statements from the candidates... ## Candidates We were grateful to have a number of nominations, though it was significantly smaller than last year. None of the previous candidates wanted to be included this year. We were lucky that both existing directors were interested in continuing. The candidate statements helped a lot with understanding what the candidates were interested in. We continue to struggle with the problem of being biased towards people we know. ## Facilitating We slipped the schedule by one month again. We had difficulty finding a facilitator in time to get the process started. Facilitating takes a nontrivial time investment, and it remains a threat to future elections to get someone to help. We discussed possibly having a Foundation employee serve that function (since for the most part it is an agnostic role). But we were too late in the process, and the Foundation staff were very busy with things like RustConf. ## Notes - The election meeting seems to consistently last 90 minutes. We should probably write that down and plan for similar amount of time in the future.
