  • The Privacy & Scaling Explorations team is excited to announce the winners of the Layer 2 Community Grants 2022. The Layer 2 Community Grants round started on October 24th, 2022 and was open for 6 weeks. In total we received 130+ proposals and thank each project for taking the time to apply. The wishlist compiled sought applications from all areas including Layer 2 explorers, cryptography, and education. This chart shows percentage of initial applicants by category: Due to the high quality of proposals, we raised the budget from an initial $750k to a total of $948k. The awarded applications percentage per category:

  • Account Abstraction Community Grants 2022 The Ethereum Foundation sponsors grants to support layer2 applications, analytics and education. Rollups are layer 2 scaling solutions for Ethereum without compromising on security or decentralization. This grants round has up to $750,000 in total available. Proposals are due in 6 weeks from TBD. All of the details you’ll need to apply can be found below. Introduction The Ethereum Foundation is launching a grants initiative to encourage research and development around layer2 applications and education from researching L2 metrics, multi-layer block explorer, compression for rollups, and educating more users on L2.

  • The Ethereum Foundation is interested in the following things, but don't let this restrict your creativity. R&D aimed toward cross-rollup transaction execution (both synchronous and asynchronous) Develop technical wallet standards to aid L2 support New transaction abstraction and aggregation techniques, i.e. allow using BLS or another crypto instead of ECDSA. Research solutions around liquidity fragmentation on L2s Research on trustless bridging techniques Research and define metrics for better understanding and comparing L2 activity -- e.g. transactions, TVL, etc." Research and define security metrics to help users compare L2’s Better compression for rollups
