# Setup # __Sharing config files__ If you are running modpacks with Rimworld Multiplayer, you will need to share the host's config files among the people who are connecting to the host. In the 1.1 and above versions of the mod this is done automatically, but if you are using 1.0 then you need to navigate to Rimworld's config folder, and copy ModsConfig.xml and any files that look like this -> Mod_XXX_XXX.xml Make the people you are playing with put these files in their config folder, REPLACING THEM when it asks them too. **Windows Rimworld Config Dir** : `%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\Config\` **Mac Rimworld Config Dir** : `~/Library/Application\ Support/RimWorld/Config/` **Linux Rimworld Config Dir** : `~/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld by Ludeon Studios/Config` # __How to portforward and connect - 101 for dummies__ ### __Step 1__ Login to your router and find the portforwarding section. If you do not know how to do that, then find your router here <https://portforward.com/router.htm> and follow it's guide to where the portforwarding section can be found. ### __Step 2__ When in the portforwarding section add a new rule to it. The section should look like this **External port/port range:** 30502 **Internal port/local port:** 30502 **Local IP:** You can sometimes pick the local IP as a drop down menu, otherwise you will need to find it somewhere on the outer page or go into cmd and type "ipconfig" and find the IPv4 address field for the network you are using. The local IP usually looks like this: `192.168.0.xxx` The local IP is not the one you find by searching for "what's my IP" on google, that's your public IP. ### __Step 3__ Save the rule, go into Rimworld and find the host menu. In the direct section you should see your local IP or 0.0.0.0. Using either is fine when you want to have other people connect via your public IP. Press host and the other person should be able to connect via direct by using your public IP. ### __Important__ * Do not put ports behind the IP, as that is done automatically when hosting and connecting. * If the other person still cannot connect then the **firewall** is sometimes at fault. Try and have the connecting person disable it to see if that helps, and if it does add the rimworld game/port as a exception to the firewall when you re-enable it. * Some people will not be able to portforward unless they buy a dedicated IP, as some ISP's provide Carrier-grade NAT over some IPv4 IP's. # __How to switch to an older version of Rimworld:__ ### **__Step 1__** Right-click Rimworld in your Steam library. ### __**Step 2**__ Click properties. ### __**Step 3**__ Click the "Betas" tab. ### __**Step 4**__ Click the version of Rimworld you want to switch to. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1UmMgtdeg.png) # __How to install the BETA builds in #release-and-test-builds:__ ### __**Step 1**__ Download the latest Multiplayer-beta.zip file from https://github.com/rwmt/Multiplayer/releases/tag/continuous ### __**Step 2**__ Open your RimWorld installation directory * Steam: Right-click RimWorld in your Steam library → Manage → Browse local Files * Or navigate directly to: * Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods * Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/RimWorld/Mods * Linux: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/RimWorld/Mods ### __**Step 3**__ Extract the zip file into the Mods folder. * You should have a Multiplayer folder in the Mods folder (Mods/Multiplayer) * Make sure you do not have this directory structure: Mods/Multiplayer-beta/Multiplayer.
