# Vision
To cultivate a shared understanding of the Skagit watershed by mapping its ecological, social, and cultural systems, empowering the community to make informed, regenerative decisions that strengthen connections between people, land, and water.
_In other words: a living map of place-based knowledge that helps the community see, understand, and care for the Skagit as an interconnected whole._
## Mission
We create a collaborative, transparent, and portable bioregional mapping platform that:
1. Centers local knowledge – ensuring the voices, observations, and experiences of community members shape the maps.
2. Documents ecological and social systems – capturing relationships between land, water, resources, and people.
3. Supports informed decision-making – providing usable insights for local initiatives, programs, and regenerative planning.
4. Maintains openness and portability – keeping all content accessible, exportable, and free from lock-in.
5. Encourages iterative learning – allowing maps, narratives, and data to evolve as the community grows and new insights emerge.
