# 2024 Annual Report at Recap Time Squad :::warning **You're previewing a working draft report.** We'll finalize this by between December 2024 and Feburary 2025 and will be published on [the transparency website](https://transparency.recaptime.dev/annual-reports) ::: Welcome to our first annual report for Recap Time Squad! ## Letter from the SABDFL Hello there and thanks for your interest in reading our first annual report. And if you don't know about me, let me introduce myself first. I am Andrei Jiroh Halili (he/they) from the Philippines, and I am the sole/lead open-source developer and SABDFL here at Recap Time Squad. Although it is mentioned in my [crew bio] that I am autistic (and being neurodivergent and disabled is a major part of my Filipino identity), I do not usually use the "autism card" often in this context because I do not want to repeat the same mistakes that `[they shall not be named]` did (as noted [in a blog post] from [Drew DeVault]) in the context of code of conduct enforcement and violations. Throughout this annual report, first and foremost, I want to be transparent about my open-source work that I do outside of my academic pursuits as student for my family and classmates throughout the school years. I know that being a open-source developer or even maintainer is often solitary and sometimes unsustainable and even exhausting, especially at the context of a developing country like ours and from a perspective of a disabled person in the open-source community. Second, as I slowly take this role more seriously as I balance my open-source work and learning backend JavaScript/TypeScript development on the sidelines during my crucial academic years, maybe even going full-time open-source maintainer in the future, there's a heighted risk on being "hit by a bus" (*knocks wood*, through not literally) mainly due to autistic burnout ## Finances ### Income We don't have a seperate bank account for everything Recap Time Squad at the moment, and is currently paid out of pocket by @ajhalili2006, mostly from his school allowance. If you want to support our endevaors, [consider sponsoring Andrei Jiroh's work](https://sponsors.andreijiroh.dev) in the meanwhile. ### Expenses At the time of publication, we spent the following: * USD 10.18 on `recaptime.dev` domain registration * USD 9 on Migadu email services for Feburary-March 2024, currently cancelled for now. ### Others We're currently working with a [US-based nonprofit fiscal sponsor] to help manage our finances more easily and to accept international donations without the headaches of foreign exchange rates, international wires, and lessen our administrative work. The timezone differences are the biggest bootleneck, but of course we're ## Donations and sponsorships We got sponsored by [GitBook](https://gitbook.io) for documentation sites hosting and [Zulip](https://zulip.com) for our Zulip Cloud organization. Thanks to them for accepting our sponsorship application! And on a side note, @ajhalili2006 received a free one-year domain registration of `lorebooks.wiki` for Community Lorebooks from Hack Club through Arcade 2024, a general-purpose You Ship, We Ship program during the summer of 2024. ## Software development Most of the software development work that we do are mostly internal projects for our that we open-sourced in the spirt that anyone could find it useful to their own use case, especially on building our own container images for reproducible developer environments. Apart from that, ## By projects ### Community Lorebooks ### Miscellaneous ## Outro ## Glossary - hit by a bus - a reference to **bus factor**, phrase used in the open-source community to measure key person risk where a lead developer suddenly leaves or disappear - SABDFL - Self-assigned benelovent dictator for life, first used by Mark Shuttleworth from the Ubuntu Project / Canonical.
