# DSET | 科技民主與社會研究中心 The [Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET)](https://dset.tw/en/home-en/) is a newly established think tank since October 2023. It aims to serve as a leading think tank in Taiwan with a future-oriented forward vision of science and technology policy that infuse and safeguard democratic values. Through cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and collaboration, DSET is committed to bringing the lenses of social sciences and humanities as well as a multistakeholder perspective to deepen a more well-rounded understanding of new and critical technology and science for the greater good of humanity. Core issues such as governance, societal impact, and the growth of democracy are at the heart of its work. [科技民主與社會研究中心](https://dset.tw/)是新成立的專案智庫 (始於2023年10月)，旨在推動科技與民主價值並行不悖且具未來性的科技政策視野。透過跨領域及跨學科的研究合作，致力於深化人文社會關懷與多方利益共同體對話，來關照國家治理、社會影響與民主發展等核心議題提供深入分析。 # Quantum Taskforce | 量子組 > [name=Qteam] UPDATE: Due to organizational restructuring and re-prioritization in late 2024, DSET closed its Quantum Taskforce. 因為組織內部調度與決策，DSET 科民社中心於 2024 下半年中止量子組。 The field of quantum technologies is one of the thematic areas of critical and cutting edge technology at DSET. Not only because it is revolutionary with futuristic potential, it is also a key area of global interest and competition. DSET's Quantum Taskforce aims to inform policymaking through interdisciplinary dialogue and research. The [Quantum Taskforce](https://dset.tw/about/dset-groups/) builds on DSET's core values, perspectives, and social and humanistic lenses to analyze national and global policies and future directions. Such as how to effectively allocate resources to incubate or support scientific research, talent pool, as well as industrial development and ecosystem to collaborate or compete with global counterparts. At the same time, it is important to establish governance mechanisms to mitigate social impacts or security challenges arising from revolutionary technologies.
