# Week 1 - Start of the journey This week marked the beginning of my work on implementing FOCIL for Nimbus CL. The foundational PR for FOCIL has been prepared by my mentor, which we’ll be building upon over the coming weeks. I also had a sync with Zkakash, my collaborator on this project, to scope out the work ahead and discuss how we can best contribute and divide responsibilities effectively. Additionally, I explored Pureth and had a great conversation with Etan from Nimbus. We discussed the architecture of Pureth and the specific components I might be interested in contributing to going forward. # FOCIL (EIP-7805) Implementation Updates #### **Phase 1: Familiarization with Relevant Codebases** This week, I focused on increasing my familiarity with the Nim language and the Nimbus codebase. Specifically, I’ve been exploring the fork choice implementation and identifying where IL (Inclusion List) processing takes place, along with other related mechanisms. Progress has been solid overall, although I was unavailable for about four days, which set things back slightly. I wasn’t able to complete everything I had planned. That said, I’m looking to make up for the lost time by putting in some extra hours over the weekend. Excited to dig deeper and keep things moving forward. - [FOCIL PR](https://github.com/status-im/nimbus-eth2/pull/7253) # Next week Deliverables - [ ] Make the ppt for presentation at EthCC - [ ] Make the proposal and submit it for review and put it up on the epf 6 repo - [ ] Work on the PR and get code pushed and merged - [ ] have a better broken down task list of objectives to tackle in the cohort for # Contacts Discord: samyxandy twitter: [@Razorclient](https://x.com/Razorclient)
