--- tags: Raid --- # Maker Raid MakerDAO has recently garnered a lot of interest, and the comunity is growing rapidly. We have also seen a huge influx in demand for the dai stablecoin over the last 6 months starting around the time of Black Thursday and the yield farming craze taking the cryptospace by storm. This has caused a number of issues for Maker including: 1. High gas prices making vaults more difficult to open and maintain by small players 2. High gas prices disincentivizing voter turnout 3. A large number of governance proposals due to consistent emergency action stressing the existing governance system 4. A lack of dev and domain team resources to manage an ever increasing number of collateral onboarding requests 5. Proposals to improve the Maker protocol being backed up significantly again due to the lack of Foundation Dev resources/bandwidth > lack of Dev Resources ^ not captial resources I assume ? > ^Yes This is correct. The solution to many of these issues is to decrease protocol development's reliance on the Maker Foundation. The Maker Foundation from the beginning has expressed the desire to offload all responsibilities to the community, creating a fully decentralized and scalable organizational structure. However, the community as it exists today is not primarily made up of blockchain software devs but people interested in governance and the use and maintainance of a permissionless stablecoin. Raid guild has the potential to provide the technical resources to help Maker scale. In exchange Maker will provide funding through its SourceCred instance, and funding we can get from CDIPs and related proposals. Likely the most promising first project here which will make everything else easier is establishing new domain teams (particularly for smart contract and risk analysis): see: https://forum.makerdao.com/t/mip7-onboarding-and-offboarding-domain-teams-for-collateral-onboarding/1909 and: https://forum.makerdao.com/t/mip23-domain-structure-and-roles/4021 Interested guild members would do well to join the maker discourse forum: https://forum.makerdao.com/ and the rocketchat: https://chat.makerdao.com and familiarize themselves with the Maker community and protocol. We'll be gathering a list of names for an intro discussion on where to start with Maker Governance: Drop your email below if you want to get on-boarded into this initiative: - IamDevloper@gmail.com - befitsandpiper@gmail.com - Elliott@valtechcreative.com - brossetti1@gmail.com
