# Basic Nouns Proposal Template ## **Title** Descriptive title communicating the main idea of the proposal. Example: “Propdates 2.0” Key recommendations: - Use language common to Nouns ecosystem and community - Keep it short and concise, less than 13 words ### **TL;DR** Add a 2-3 summary of the proposal. Example: “Propdates has been well received by the Nouns community, with continued increased in usage since it’s first deployement. To nurture additional growth, we would like to fund 4 months of development, including a second, upgradeable version of the contracts.” Key recommendations: - State the objective, original problem, and proposed solution - Keep it short and concise, a few sentences at most. - Consider quoting key questions, verbatim, that the Nouns community are asking in social media and interviews. ### Related work and progress so far Describe the work that has been done to date related to this proposal. Include available metrics and community comments demonstrating demand for proposal work. Aim for 100-200 words. Key recommendations: - Use available public metrics - Reference community conversation notes from social media, podcasts, and other blogs / publications - Include visual graphs of data if available - Proof of concept: many ideas could be done in few hours that shows the gist of it. - Include media and images to "make it real" ### Goals and Roadmap Describe measureable objectives and key results you hope to achieve with the work. Then describe the work milestones and brief summary of tasks. Include notes on dependencies where needed. Aim for 200-500 words. Key recommendations: - Define objectives in layman’s terms, as well as associated metrics. - Create a roadmap with milestones and target dates of completion. - Tie roadmap to the objectives where possible. How will the work achieve those objectives? - Include a description of any adoption incentive programs you plan to include. For example, payments for participation or gas reimbursement fees for users. ### Team List out team members, a short bio, and previous related work completed by the individuals or the team as a whole. Provide links to member profiles. Include contact information. Aim for 100-200 words total. Key recommendations: - Avoid anonymous teams. Pseudonymity is fine as long as there are credible - Include links to public profiles, ideally Farcaster, where Nouns members can message them directly for specific clarifications. - Include team member associations, such as other DAOs, online communities, or companies. - Include links to team portfolios, such as GitHub. - Don’t include descriptions of previous projects, instead link out to project outputs and webpages. ### Funding Provide a detailed list of resources for the proposal. This should include direct ETH from the treasury, as well as additional disbursement such as performance bonuses. Aim for 100-300 words total. Key recommendations: - Include line items describing fund allocation for team, operational expenses, and incentive programs. - Include caveats and dependencies. For example, what happens if you are unable to achieve the objectives laid out in the proposal. - For larger projects, funding may be tied to different phases, with a release of funds based on the success of each sequential phase. - Give thought to funding as a stream vs. a lump payment. If requesting a stream, include terms for stream cancellation. --- ## Other Proposal Considerations ### Example Proposals 1. [Public Good Beer](https://www.census.wtf/proposals/378) 2. In some cases, potential builders may be looking for guidance. The Nouns community is active in the [Farcaster Nouns Channel](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/nouns) (Download the Warpcast application [here](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/warpcast/id1600555445)), and also commonly posts public requests for proposals. For example, Krel -- @krel on Farcaster -- has [a list of potential projects](https://krel.notion.site/Nouns-DAO-Request-for-Proposers-94dadff999ac493b9902aa002e4b296e) that may be of interest to you. --- ### Project Phases In many cases, Nouns has funded builders through phases. First an MVP, for example with a request of 2-10 ETH, followed by a larger project once adoption is confirmed. Finally, extensions for maintenance and additional feature expansion.
