# Intro Understanding Pokemon helps is critical to raise Snorlax. Without mastering this, it's almost impossible to efficiently raise Snorlax. After understanding this guide, we recommend heading over [how to evaluate a Pokemon] since this guide strictly focuses on explaining Pokemon helps and their factors. Understanding all the mechanics described below should give you a good baseline to know [how to evaluate a Pokemon]. # What is a Pokemon Help ## Shorter Version Pokemon help at a certain frequency. When a Pokemon "helps," ALL of the following happens: - Collect berries OR ingredients - Trigger Main Skill by chance Pokemon has a limit on how many items (berries/ingredients) it can carry. If the total amount goes over the carry limit, [Sneaky Snacking] starts. Clicking on the magnifier icon on top of a Pokemon's head collects all helps they have gathered so far and triggers the main skill if there is any. Carry item count resets to 0 after picking the items off the ground. ## Longer Version (with some imagination) If the above doesn't make sense, imagine that the Pokemon go out at a certain frequency. Each time they go out, they either find berries OR ingredients. When they come back, they additionally roll a dice to determine if they want to use their main skill. They also have a small backpack for collecting the berries/ingredients they found. When the carry limit is reached, they no longer find ingredients (i.e. berries only), and they start [Sneaky Snacking]—still going out, but only finding berries every time and secretly eating them. Clicking on the magnifier on top of their head collects all items they have, empties their backpack, and triggers main skills if there were any. -------- Pokemon helps surround [Production rates], [Helping Frequency], and [Carry Limit]. **We strongly recommend** checking all their guides to have a more complete picture of how Pokemon helps work. For the exact usages of berries, ingredients, and skills, see [raising Snorlax]. # Tips - If you change a Pokemon on your team without collecting the items they have and/or triggering their main skill, those items and skill triggers are permanently lost. - Therefore, we recommend making sure there is no magnifier icon left on the field before switching the team. - You could intentionally waste the Pokemon's collection and their main skills for controlling Snorlax strength. See [checking Pokemon sleep styles] for the reason. - There are extra tips and strategies regarding [triggering main skills]. For details, check [this guide][triggering main skills].
