# Product Designer, Privacy and Scaling Explorations Research Group
Design · Fully Remote, RM
## About the Privacy and Scaling Explorations Research Group
We are a cutting-edge technological research group exploring practical applications for Zero-Knowledge Proofs and Scaling solutions, in partnership with the Ethereum Foundation. Our mission is to build the cryptographic primitives that will form the bedrock of a rich and vibrant ecosystem of decentralized applications (dapps), built on Ethereum. We do this through pure research projects, by building proofs of concept, and by facilitating the integration of technological primitives into decentralized applications.
## Your mission
Our design team is responsible for translating these technological primitives into approachable experiences for users of varied backgrounds. Your mission is to generate compelling and visually pleasing designs that intrigue a diverse audience. You will collaborate directly with engineers and designers on various research projects. You will use an iterative and research-based design process to generate interest in the dapps, decrease friction in the onboarding process and increase usage.
Your mission will involve designing UIs for explorative use cases of Ethereum that are not limited to de-fi and cryptocurrency applications. There may be few direct comparisons to draw to the dapp you are designing for. You will be responsible for identifying potential UI solutions from direct and indirect comparative models to inform design decisions that enhance usability.
## Core responsibilities
**Enhance usability by creating refined UIs**
* Create and iterate upon low and high-fidelity wireframes
* Design user flows, layouts, logos, and icons
* Design or source illustrations and animations
* Share your designs and what informed your decisions in weekly design reviews
**Co-Develop a design system that serves the unique needs of the team including**
* Reusable component library to wireframe any proof of concept
* Processes to duplicate and customize component library on a per/dapp basis
* Contribute to an existing icon library
**Push the visual and aesthetic direction of our dapps**
* Help the team build trust among users by producing contemporary and functional designs.
* Drive interest in our research projects through engaging visuals.
* Make design decisions that make complex ideas approachable.
## About you
* **You are passionate about aesthetics *and* function.** You dream of working on projects where your creativity is not limited by bureaucracy or outdated style guides.
* **You care about accessibility.** Accessible design is something you have at least studied the basics of as you continue to learn more and apply those principles to your work.
* **You are resourceful.** Our research projects often do not have direct competitors. You possess patience in ambiguity, ask questions, and seek clarity by drawing connections to indirect products and concepts.
* **You work well both independently and with others**. No matter who you are working with, you are curious about their needs and goals within the scope of the project. You welcome feedback and take the time to understand the perspectives of your teammates.
* **You take a systematic approach to design.** You ideate and test ways to improve team workflows and production quality.
* **You have a range of design skills.** Production can include anything from browser interfaces, landing pages, logos, icons, and design system development.
* **Your values align with the Ethereum ecosystem.** Even if you are new to the space, you are interested in open source collaboration and decentralized systems. You are curious to learn more about the team’s research.
## Required Skills and Experience
* Expertise with design tools including Figma and Adobe Suite
* Strong communication, storytelling, and documentation skills
* Experience working closely with developers
* At least 3+ years of experience in solving complex user problems through user interface design, creating mock-ups, prototypes (low- and high- fidelity), and user scenarios for reviewing and testing designs.
* Portfolio of previous work including UI designs and sketches that demonstrate an understanding of an iterative and research-based design process + best practices.
