## **Day 1**
### **O-RAN Opportunities and Challenges (Alex Jinsung Choi)**
- O-RAN is apparently new, and founded as of 2018 by two RAN alliance merging with members around the world
- 'Open' is the core in O-RAN and the theme in the future that will lead innovation
- O-RAN infrastuctures and specification is with the purpose of building a common standard, avoiding proprietary vendor-locked specification
- **O-RAN's main objective**:
- Specification Effort
- Leading the industry toward common standard and O-RAN specification such as the implementation of Radio Intelligent Controllers (RIC)
- Improved security
- Research on next-gen such as 6G
- Software Community
- Collab with Linux Foundation on developing software for O-RAN specification running open source projects
- One of the open lab is in Taiwan
- Testing & Integration
- Efforts to integrate the O-RAN specifications to the industry
- Specification immaturity, full end to end testing, and complex ecosystem (such as integrating and managing multiple vendor) is some of O-RAN's challenges

## **Day 2**
### **Toward 6G (Pang-An Ting)**
- 6G is in-line with Intelligence - Green and Sustainability SDG as it will interconnect digital and physical worlds in the future (expected in 2030)
- 6G development is kickstarted in 2023 in many countries, while 5G have been in R&D since 2015 and commercially released by 2020.
