Balance of ensuring that for-profit organizations are not avoiding payment for participation by sending delegates via non-profit orgs. The act of blocking consensus on behalf of our organization should represent some degree of consensus of opinion within the OpenJSF space. Perhaps this is the tightest / highest standard we would need to meet before exercising this on behalf of the foundation. In the case of 'fast-tracked' decisions, blocking to make sure that there's time to build awareness or ensure thoroughness of consideration. You are going to have to justify actions after the fact - Pre-meeting consensus / sync up meetings have pros and cons for the meeting. Members in leadership roles, such as editorship or note-taking, are particularly valuable to OpenJSF Is OpenJSF's membership equivalent to paying memberships? Discussion of our entity (501(c)6) type's role in an SDO. Can we reach a consensus within the group about blocking? - can we support blocks that have been discussed and agreed opinion in advance? AIs: We need a bar for assessing consensus from Foundation project We need a reporting mechanism - feedback We need to summarize the roles - getting back to first principles of the org type Examples of the kind of scenarios the delegate is likely to face. - https://github.com/openjs-foundation/standards/issues/83 - https://github.com/openjs-foundation/standards/issues/81 Goal is to collect stats for the announcment post; gets aggregate stats that describes the depth & breadth of experience in the standards space, and provide pull quote fodder: https://forms.gle/XfexYXb4A7RXHbDz7 - https://github.com/openjs-foundation/standards/issues/80 Dtex's strawperson suggestion: > The Standards Working Group actively monitors and contributes to the evolution of technologies upon which the foundation's projects depend by participating in the standards bodies that define them. Revise to focus more on the support of individuals? AI: iterate on this in Slack so we can use this in the announcement post.
