# Gnosis Builders 2022 Report (draft)

The [Gnosis Builders](https://www.gnosis.builders/) team is working on the Gnosis Ecosystem Initiative (GIP-38) which introduced a concerted ecosystem development effort. The initial objectives:

* enhance the developer and user experience
* grow developer and user adoption
* increase developer recognition and engagement
* broaden awareness of the platform narrative and values

## 2022 Q3

Q3 started with a focus on the developer and user experience. Pressing issues from a developer perspective were documentation updates, launching a testnet, and making it easier to get xdai for development.

### Gnosis Faucet

We worked on documentation, reached out to wallets and on-ramps about XDAI and GNO support, and launched a faucet.

A view of major gnosis chain activity. We hope to get to a point where the metrics dashboard can offer a live view on key metrics.

## 2022 Q4

Q4 began with a focus on credible neutrality, resilience, and decentralization as necessary groundwork for what's to come.

One goal for year end 2023 is a truly broad and geographically diverse validator base.

A wizard-based guidebook to provide new validators with tailored recommendations and overview on steps to run a validator. We want to share a top-level overview as well as pointing new validators to the right places, and to lower barriers to validation. The site will eventually showcase more staking and validation related tools and services.

EthVietnam Nov 25-26
We have produced our first video tutorial in Vietnamese. In this tutorial, Hieu covers the basics on launching a token contract and a DAO contract on Gnosis Chain as well as information to get a new validator started.

We gave a grant to EthereumPools.info to provide a dashboard on validator pools performance. Read a more detailed overview about GnosisPools.info on this blog post.

## Financial Summary

Builders was funded for a three year mission at the end of June 2022 with 108013 GNO and 18604 stETH. Builders Treasury funded Builders Operations with stETH collateralized borrowing rather than selling. Approximately $1,25M were spent on [Operations](eth:0xeA71a14591551de45bF1ea103FAe2f48b567Ff46) in 2022.

Spend for the next two quarters will grow with team size (now 24) and as more ambitious 2023 initiatives kick off.

The overall macro and crypto environment in Q3 and Q4 suffered from a series of unfortunate events. The merge and related changes also impacted volumes. Given this context, we spent less in Q3 and Q4 with the intention to spend more in 2023 Q1 and Q2 (after the merge).

## 2023

We will launch various initiatives related to validator diversity and network resiliency in 2023. In addition to a truly diverse set of nodes, one goal is a validator in every country. Given the chaos in more centralized markets, we expect developers and users will grow to appreciate a network emphasizing decentralization, resilience, and integrity.
