# **Modeling** Split Asset

1. - [ ] See in Tab "Ep210Sh93/95" what asset needs to be splitted.
> Please check that Parent Asset is conformed and in its file "_Base\MDL\work\Maya"

2. - [ ] Use Maya **Shotgun Open File** and make sur Modeling and shading are crossed in "filter by Pipeline Step".

3. - [ ] Open Parent Asset to subdivise and go to Shotgun > Publish.
- Take a Thumbnail
- Add a short Description *(ex : First publish, split "body" from "Pirata01")*
- **Validate**
- **Publish**

3. - [ ] Go to Shotgun > Open File and open the Sub-Asset you want to split.
- Ex : If you need to split the boots from CHR Pirata01, go to Pirata01Boots01_Base.
> This file will have been previously created in Shotgun so you can find it in the Shotgun Maya.
- **Click on +NewFile** to create a .ma.

4. - [ ] Once the scene is created and empty, go to Shotgun > Load.
:warning: **Make sur to be on the Tab "Asset" and not "Asset Library"**
- Open the Parent Asset from which you need to extract a part.

5. - [ ] Once you've opened the Parent Asset, you notice it is in Reference.
- Duplicate the part you want to extract. It is now a Mesh in your scene.
- Put the Mesh at the root of the Outliner.

6. - [ ] Remove all references from the scene.

7. - [ ] Conform the Asset the same way you did before.
- Here the link to the [Asset Conformation Notice](/JgUG1AoqQlicoihQGvoZWA) if needed.

8. - [ ] Got to Shotgun > File Save and just click "save".
**This Step is important and must be done BEFORE Publish.**

9. - [ ] Go to Shotgun > Publish
- Do as previous, take a Thumbnail, add a description
- **Validate**
- **Publish**
