# Outline server demands HEAD/IRAD/Pool numerique

## Current situation

- Difficult communication with Infolab in order to add and modify web hosting for IRAD projects.
- No centralised place/overview for domain management
- Very limited user management and tedious process to "get things online"

## Target, Needs

- Easy access to domains (creation) and easy management for giving sftp access to specific domains with different user rights
- Management of multiple Wordpress instances (with low maintenance)
- Server hosted in Switzerland

## Server requirements

- **HEAD Publishing**
- Dedicated server with 2 GB ram, 50gb disk space
- Requirements: NodeJs, Docker
- **Pool numerique**
- nodejs server to install local version of [hedgedoc](https://hedgedoc.org/) -> in the first run we are working with a limited account of hackmd. First tutoriels available [here](https://hackmd.io/@poolnumerique/SyASyJkxO).
- new domain poolnumerique.ch
- general website with cockpit and vuejs

- **IRAD projects**
- 10-15 different research webpages
- PHP/mySQL, NodeJS, MongoDB
- Individual access for researchers (SSH & FTP)

## Proposed solution/recommendation (tbc)

- Hosting (infomaniak versus HES-SO?)
- Unmanaged dedicated server for HEAD publishing (~49CHF/month)
- Managed dedicated server with PHP for HEAD IRAD projects + public webpage of poolnumerique (~49CHF/month)
- Managed dedicated server with nodeJS for HEAD IRAD projects + collaborative hedgedoc instance for poolnumerique (~42CHF/month)

- All three instances ~150chf/month (1800chf/annually)

- **Open Questions**
- Where to do the staging versions of this installations?
- Are all three servers on one budget? Advantage: one central instance manages it
- Can Infolab take care of this?
