# EIP Editing Office Hour

### **Pro-tips for EIP Authors**

1. While documenting a proposal or creating a new Pull Request
- **EIP title limit** - 44 chars
EIP Authors need to be creative to be descriptive with the title within the set limit.
- **PR for '`Last Call`'**
Be sure to update the ***Last Call End Date*** with any change in the active PR. It has to be + 14 days form the date of change.
- **EIP number**
As an EIP author, you must **NOT** attempt to assign the EIP number. This is an EIP Editor's responsibility.
- **Requires**
Add EIPs which is the requirement of the proposal.

2. If the bot doesn't show any error and isn't auto merging; try adding a comment `@eth-bot rerun`. This may help auto-merge and you don't have to wait for EIP Editors to merge it.

[Ethereum Cat Herders](https://www.ethereumcatherders.com/), a group of Ethereum community contributors, introduced "EIP Editors' Apprenticeship Meetings" in November 2021 to invite participation to become EIP editor.

With a great success on the EIP editing, we are proposing an office hour for EIP authors with editors for proposal reviewing & discussion.

## Goal

The main goal of these meetings is to offer help to authors and move best proposals to `Final` status as a standard available for Ethereum users. This will provide opportunity to all parties
- **EIP authors** to share issues and challenges
- **EIP editors** will respond to some rare and corner cases that sometime maybe ambiguous otherwise
- **Community** may follow the recording as a learning resource for EIP documenting and/or EIP reviewing.

We hope the EIP Editing Office Hour will open a synchronus communication channel for EIP authors & EIP editors. It will encourage authors to stick around and seek help to push proposals to the next EIP status in [EIP process](https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/blob/master/EIPS/eip-1.md#eip-process).

## Who will join the meeting?

*EIP Editing Office Hour* meetings will be open to all community members to join and follow the recording, later.

We invite all present & future EIP authors to join the call. Especially, authors of EIPs going into `Last Call` and `Final` statuses are highly encouraged to mark the calendar to join the meeting and share questions, comments, concerns with present EIP editors.

These meetings could be perceived as an extension to [EIPIP meeting](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4cwHXAawZxpLrRIkDlBjDUUrGgF91pQw) where the main focus is discussing particular EIPs instead of process around EIPs.

## What will Agenda include?

Agenda for the meeting will be added to the [ECH GitHub Issues](https://github.com/ethereum-cat-herders/EIPIP/issues) in advance. EIP authors must add their proposal for discussion in comments to be included in the agenda for the next meeting.

In general, the agenda for the meeting will include
- any peoposal looking for EIP editors' attention
- EIPs promoted to `Last Call` in the past two weeks
- Open Pull Requests to move a proposal to`Final` in the past two weeks

## Meeting Schedule

***EIP Editing Office Hour*** meeting will be organized by the Ethereum Cat Herders in association with [Sam Wilson](https://twitter.com/_SamWilsn_) and active [EIP editors](https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/blob/master/EIPS/eip-1.md#eip-editors).

These meetings will be using the same time slot of **alternate Tuesday at 15:00 UTC** replacing the EIP Editors' Apprenticeship meetings.
