6/29/2022by Ping “Just as the technology of printing altered and reduced the power of medieval guilds and the social power structure, so too will cryptologic methods fundamentally alter the nature of corporations and of government interference in economic transactions.“ The Crypto Anarchist Manifesto, 1988 After 30 years, the prophetic manifesto of the ancient technician has finally proven its vision. The vision is real, and the future is here. Crypto is never a fad, but a philosophy of decentralization and openness with profound social-economic effect. It has waged a long on-going war against any form of centralized power, against the dull everyday censorship and bureaucracy conducted by the middle man. We have already witnessed how the decentralized Dot-coms in Web1.0 and Web2.0 revolutions impacted and liberated the monopoly of information and knowledge. Yet this fruitful revolution had fell captive in the hands of the state, the tech giants and the capitalists. This betrayal occurred because the information revolutions failed to recognize the self-governing power of the average people, thus failed to identify every engaging entity as potential investor and stakeholder. The bazaar had prevailed the cathedral, yet the coding bazaar has established its own elite status, giving in to Wall Streets or Silicon Ventures, excluding the voice and financial ownership of everyday users. However, the exclusion is changing in recent years. User-inclusive project such as crowd fundraising platforms have displayed how the aggregate common people have the vision and financial power to engage and realize their desirable project. Cryptocurrencies or blockchain technology is best described as the once absent economic tool that could fulfill the full potential of the crypto-fueled decentralization revolution. This new economic tool has already gained traction. The undeniable existence of Bitcoin challenges the necessity of financial middle man and the state’s monopoly on the definition of economic value (something PayPal could never achieve).
