# Raise Handoff File This document is an overview of the Raise design work completed over the past year, and the suitable files required to carry on the design work within the company. The goal of this document is to provide a single place to organize all of the product-related content for a product design team to work internally. The focus behind this document is setting up for version 4 of the Raise platform which includes making the platform easier to use and building a transactional platform and cap table. The design file focuses on the latest version of the Raise platform that is being implemented. Previous versions of the Raise platform have been re-freshed to keep up with customer requests and usability. The new components of version 4 have been tested extensively with customers to inform the new direction for the Raise platform. Raise is a platform that allows founders, lawyers/legal secretaries, and investors to manage their companies and their legal assets (shareholdings) within one platform. Companies can get verified by completing an up-to-date version of the cap table (ownership structure), issuing any assets to shareholders to manage via the platform. Companies can then fundraise using the Deal Room feature, creating more shareholdings to issue to investors. ## Who are our users, and what's their journey? The main users we build for today are busy African founders building pre to seed stage companies primarily in Nigeria or Kenya. The ideal customer is in financial technology and managine two to three corporate structures between Africa and Delaware, or Canada. Here's the journey for those customers to be onboarded: 1. Sign up through getraise.io 2. Create a company account 3. Build a cap table (enter company & cap table details) 4. The Raise team verifies the company's detail 5. Company 'goes live' 6. Live companies get access to features like the cap table, digital certificates and the fundraising tools The journey then splits into two major groups: 1. Companies managing their cap tables & compliance. a. These companies are issuing stock options, raising capital outside of regular rounds or managing corporate compliance and structures in different jurisdictions. 2. Companies that are fundraising b. These companies are fundraising a pre-seed or seed round or Series A/B round and are actively preparing their diligence documents for that round. They need to build out the deal room and prepare it to be 'launched' to investors. Over time we've suffered from *too long* of an onboarding process. From onboarding cap tables, to building out deal rooms and getting those deal rooms in front of investors. As well, we've never built a very intentional flow for investors, we've more added on investor & employee features **as extensions** **of features being built for our primary user group: busy founders. But, to build a marketplace in version 4 of Raise, we have to build intentionally for those user groups. That's why version 4 now takes customers through an onboarding journey to onboard an **individual user** instead of just a single company. A user can have multiple companies, multiple deal rooms and multiple shareholdings. Here's more detail on each of our user types: #### [Personas/Archetypes](https://www.figma.com/file/qYWKuiQ8i35YcMaetig1O0/User-Archetypes?node-id=0%3A1) ✅ ## Design Files We have broken down the Raise platform into the following files, each of which represents a portion of the platform, its possible user journeys, and components. Splitting components into their various atoms, molecules, organisms, and other. It also provides an overview of the Raise style guide. The Raise design system is based off the [Dashkit bootstrap kit](https://dashkit.goodthemes.co/index.html). This file has not been properly updated since March this year, and could do with a resync to make sure it is in line with the development team's Chromatic adventure. ### [Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/Kbc4pBtdY9MEVzDxAdSnXN/Raise-Design-System?node-id=0%3A1) ... ## Extras ### Product Tours #### [Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/pi5nwDHRnPPyC1asjQlKGi/Product-Tour?node-id=267%3A1) #### HackMDs - [Overview](https://hackmd.io/LozTbdhSSgOwydMmgFIncQ) - [Tours on Raise](https://hackmd.io/TU9GjJZUQ_Gl2zOzpgAv4A) ... ### User Research #### [Personas/Archetypes](https://www.figma.com/file/qYWKuiQ8i35YcMaetig1O0/User-Archetypes?node-id=0%3A1) ... ### Web Content Various screens for Raise's website redesign and the content needed for mockups etc. #### [Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/qlmGU2rViEl41JugGoB3Cd/Web-Content?node-id=0%3A1) --- ## Where are we now? The Raise design team has always usually been one step (if not two) ahead of the development team. At the moment, Raise's developers have just implemented the redesigned user onboarding journey, KYC APIs, and email syncing. This next cycle they will be implementing the redesigning user dashboard and Add Company wizard. --- ## Resources 😍 In 5 weeks time, Raise will be looking to implement a redesigned version of the Ownership (Cap Table) part of the company dashboard. Over the past few weeks Whitney (Shee) has been collecting user research and feature requests in an extended set of interviews. One of our priorities for the last couple of months was to organize all of the cap table research into one place for designers to come in and take up the baton. To do that, we've done customer research, legal research, competitor analysis to understand what the next implementations of the cap table should look like. All of those resources are listed below. A large focus is currently to build out the cap table features, which have not yet been designed. The goal is to build a responsive, simple and transactional cap table infrastructure. Below are some detailed resources, reports, user testing and research we've done.
