### housing loneliness (Francois)
- expensive room.
- 18-27 and 60-60 matchmaking.
- students
- helping people find rooms that are free, and need help doing tasks
- not just loneliness among older, but also younger.
- wealth resources on one side, but not many social resources. mobility issues perhaps.
- patcon: berlin or germany. students + elderly matchmaking. #todo look up precedent.
- francois: experience couch surfing. does cooking when staying with. very postiive experience. with 70 yo, he's 24. felt complementary.
- accessibiliy #topic
- brain. coincidence of needs. elders might have safety concerns. methodology to intro is important.
- patcon: events allowing people to built trust? example: hacknight.
- mako hill #todo look up talk
- laura: say it's an app.
- francois: doesn't have to be.
- laura: will ppl find it hard to agree to a longterm thing? how do you imagine ppl will come to met and test each other.
- opencollective.com/brussels
- infrastructure.
### Food waste reduction via automated kiosk (Laura)
- re: public spaces and food waste. diff ways for ppl to shop to reduce food waste.
- developed already, but in abstract way
- about half food wasted by consumers. $31B in can every year.
- we shop weekly.
- idea: automated self-serve grocery markets in subways and shared floors of buildings.
- #tod oget pitch video
- open app. has options for local meals. choose serving size. don't pay for anythign just yet.
- arrive and food available in little compartments.
- circle expands based on weight
- wholestation. get exactly what you really want.
- thesis project.
- marica. why did you imagine amazon? product design program, and so needed to choose. high tech. money. understand AI and tracking. logistics. speculative project. not officially amazon.
- youlian: loblaws doing tech stuff.
- reducing food waste might not be aligned with grocery stores' desires.
- youlian: loblaws has huge optimization department
- brian: sometimes easier to throw out than optimize. e.g., milk: produce and dump.
- marica: how do we know that we can't get more cost-effective, rather than getting a mutlinational to build.
- laura: tech has a lot of good idea, but don't have manpower to get the product to work well.
- brian: part of it is having the disipline not to buy too much.
- laura: feeling that policy needs to change.
- francois: value prop for end-user is very different. laura: yes. buying a recipe. things fitting in small palces can't have same environment.
- laura: helping ppl buy in-season might be part of this
- not packages. can be spontaneous.
- patcon: re: institute for resources based economy. tool library. tool bank locker.
- marica: is there a theme of ppl exchanging things, apartments ,foods? yes, there's a theme between pithces.
- brian: something starts to fall when we build these new things.
- interactions between two groups that don't meet. when you create something, something elese is sacrifices. we can put it back together, or we can dissassemble it.
- patcon: self-checkout.
- brian: JIT delivery.
- laura: shoudl we cater to our fast/efficient, and cater to our desire to be alone? or should we cater to slow food movement. focus was reduce food waste in canada.
- patcon: could we take riffs on the idea, and point to the values that inform that riff?
- john: ppl pick up box on subway. logistic implications might be pretty voracious. lots of externalities with amazon. what about community meal setup. we already have community meal setups. already have dishware, so no need for plastic. could rotate duties.
- brian: co-op kitchens, and prep kitchens exist. one where you bring your things, and one where you cook and leave. john: i used to manage a co-op kitchen in kitchener [sic?]. everyone shared responsibilities. shared cooking and shared cleanup.
- laura: reminds me of co-living in sweden. sharing chores. etc. food banks are transitiopning into things like this. shedding title of food bank to be community kitchen. more education. also in sweden, can bring foods and leave it and share it.
- can't do it as personal.
- shubi: mentioendfeedback "company".
- francois: supply chains might be the issue.
- recipes farmers provide. very good food for very low price. take old supermarket stuff.
- the panel is anther layer o intermediaries.
- marica: still don't know who's taking the hit for the cost. who's delivering?
- laura: rationale is that bringing a bunch of food to a path already travelled, then it's better than straight to door.
