# Git Account Setup
## Account creation
1. **Open [lab.panascais.net/users/sign_up](https://lab.panascais.net/users/sign_up) in your browser**
2. **Enter your credentials**
1. **Name**
Please fill in your real first and last name.
1. **Username**
Please use the following format: `<firstname.lastname>`(e.g. `max.mustermann`)
1. **Password**
Choose a highly secure password with a minimum length of 8 characters. Also please use captial letters and special characters too.
1. **Email**
Enter your personal business email address. Please do not use an email account to which several people have access.

Make sure you **choose a secure password** and **never share your account credentials**. Everyone with access to your account will be able to modify configurations/code under your name.

3. **Validate your email**
After submission you should've received a validation email. Please click the confirmation link and continue with the next step.
## **Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)**
1. **Install a 2FA App**
You can choose any 2FA app you want. Here are some recommentations:
- Google Authenticator ([App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-authenticator/id388497605) / [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en&gl=US))
- Twilio Authy ([App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/authy/id494168017) / [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.authy.authy))

2FA apps are usually installed on a smartphone and are used for additional account security. Without access to the phone/app, no new device can log in to your Git account.

You will not be able to log in to your Git account without access to your phone/2FA app.

2. **Open the [Git 2FA settings page](https://lab.panascais.net/-/profile/two_factor_auth)**

After your initial login, you should have been redirected directly to this page.

The page should look like this:

3. **Add the QR code to your 2FA app**
You should be able to scan the QR code with your 2FA app. Follow all steps your app requires you to do.
4. **Register with two-factor app**
After adding the QR code to the app you should be able to see a 6 digit long number. Add this number to the "Pin Code" input field and confirm the registration with your Git password. Click the blue "Register with two-factor app" button to complete this step.
