Hi all,

Some updates:

I went to "het verkeerscentrum" in Antwerp on 20-11-2024.

joost_schouppe called in digitally. They monitor the motorways and steer traffic flow (e.g. by setting the messages on the overhead displays, by rerouting traffic and dispatching police in case of accidents).

They are using mainly Wegenregister, but as it is limited, they did experiment with OSM already - mainly to map-match many GPX-tracks from heavy traffic (EETS). They will publish the aggregates as open data soon (first half of 2025). (@xivk: they'll also build a SLA tool and were a bit dissapointed you didn't sign up for the job)

I gave my default introduction slideshow with a lot of extra, technical information which they found very interesting.

Oh, they also mentioned that one of the contractors for Oosterweel did update OSM as part of their contract.

They were quite enthusiastic, so we'll hopefully hear more from them
