# Weight Loss Tech Stack In order of importance/usefulness: ## Calorie tracker [Cronometer](https://cronometer.com/) This service has Android & iOS apps as well as the web app. There's an extensive food database, so adding food to my diary is often as easy as scanning the bar code with my phone. Jen uses [MyFitnessPal](https://www.myfitnesspal.com/), which is very similar. ## Wearable fitness tracker [Fitbit Inspire 2](https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/products/trackers/inspire2?sku=418BKBK) Tracks physical activity, heart rate, and sleep length/quality. Android, iOS, and web apps. ## Scale [Withings Body Cardio](https://www.withings.com/us/en/body-cardio) Measures weight, body fat percentage, and heart rate. Android, iOS, and web apps available. If I were to buy a new scale I'd get the [Body+](https://www.withings.com/us/en/body-plus) for $50 less. Jen and I both wear heart rate trackers, so there's little need for that feature in a scale. ## Configuration It takes a little bit of tinkering to get all the apps talking to each other, but it's ultimately pretty cool: - Fitbit gets my current weight & body composition from the scale, calculates how many calories I burn during activity, and sends that to Cronometer. - Cronometer also uses my weight & composition, to calculate how many calories I burn at rest. That, plus my active calories burned, lets me know how much I can/should eat each day.
