Installing the OpenTEK app (and using it offline)

On mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) the OpenTEK platform can be installed and added to the device's Home Screen. By Doing that you can access OpenTEK directly from your Home Screen and when you launch it from there it will run in fullscreen (without the browser url bar/ menu). In principle it works the same on all mayor browsers.

  1. Go to OpenTEK (type opentek.eu in the browser)
  2. Open the browser menu
  3. Select "Add to Home Screen / Install App"
  4. Eventually you can change the name that is used on your Home Screen
  5. Confirm your choice

Here are the detailed steps for Chrome, Firefox and Safari

On Chrome

Use the 3-dot menu to open up the menu of the app once you are on OpenTEK. Tap the option to “Install App" (or "Add to Home Screen”). Confirm by clicking on the "Install" button.

What's coming next

We will soon add offline functionality. That means that, after installing OpenTEK using a wifi hotspot for instance, you can launch the app from your Home Screen even if you are not connected to the internet. You can still create entries which will be stored as drafts on your device. When you are connected again you can then upload the entries to the OpenTEK platform.
