OSUM Roadmap – OLS-2
Welcome to OSUM | Open Science UMontreal.
We are an onboarding to open science, with a focus on francophone communities.
This is by no means the final, nor full scope, of our mission. You can also read our french overview, and our extended description for OLS-2
Pssst: If you find typos or have tips to share, feel free to edit this document! This is an open and collective effort.
We begin in Montreal, Canada, at the Université de Montréal.

Why a Centralised Project Submission?
As the Brainhack Global team, we aim to create a (de)centralized collaborative working platform that would facilitate & increase across-site collaborations and interactions while also giving visibility to the projects run under Brainhack Global as much as possible. Creating such a (de)centralized platform and workflow, we aim to encourage sharing ideas, experiences and knowledge across parties, removing the barriers and allowing contributions by researchers from all around the globe and a myriad of disciplines.
Given that this year Brainhack Global will be run virtually, we would like to create a (de)centralized project submission and listing platform that would allow you to submit your initial project call to gather interests from researchers from every single Brainhack Global event location.
The ideal project should convey ideas with respect to the development of tools, methodologies, guidelines and begets to brainstorming new ideas that would facilitate the implementation of open science practices in neuroscience and create more opportunities for collaborative work and information exchange within the community.
If you would like to get more ideas about:
how to design your project and what to expect from a Brainhack experience,

This book is a collection of resources that inspired us or we thought they would be useful to others so we want to share it.

If you find a resource that is related to open science, please add it in the relevant section!
There is a template available at the top of each file that you can copy.

During BrainHack School you will be exposed to a wide variety of new tools, from collaboration tools to analysis tools. At times this might make you feel a little anxious, even a little bit imposter that you didn't know them already. Don't worry if you feel overwhelmed, we are all here to help.
If you complete the school more equipped than when you started, we will have achieved our main goal. Indeed, one of the difficulties in neuro-data science is not necessarily learning how to use a tool, but rather learning that the tool even exists, and who to get in touch with that might know how to use it. (Keep in mind that everyone knows some tools, but not all of them!)
That said, here's a little Getting Started Guide on the common tools we will use throughout the BrainHack School:

Last but not least, the final deliverable that will be displayed in the Project Gallery. We don't want you to write new stuff, you have done more than enough :raised_hands:. In fact, this page should reflect your final report (aka your README.md).
PS: You don't have to install Hugo to add your document and make the pull request. The file you will have to edit has all the instruction embedded for the two different sections you need to fill in. (e.i, the frontmatter or header of the document, and the content section).
This document will guide you through the whole Git/Github workflow that you are probably becoming expert at ;).
[ ] Fork the BrainHack school website repository @ https://github.com/BrainhackMTL/school
[ ] Clone your newly forked repo on your computer.
[ ] Go in school/content/en/project/. Then, copy and paste the template/ directory in school/content/en/project/.
[ ] Change the name of the template copy/ directory to a significant one. The name you give to the folder will become the page that your project will be accessible. For example, thefake project is accessible at https://school.brainhackmtl.org/project/fake. So, make sure to pick a nice and relevant short name ;). PS: if you want more than one word, replace the space between words by -.
