  • ==This is a public document shared with the Open Life Science (OLS) community members. You are welcome to add your personal successes and impact stories associated with your participation in the OLS program. You can also add your response via this Google form: https://forms.gle/HzNixW7jrnwCNvC37.== Guidance: Please select a bullet point and share examples of impact of the OLS on your lives / work / projects. This could be fellowships, grants, policies and documentation implemented, mentorship skills grown, new opportunities, etc.. No impact too small, and links encouraged and welcome. Emma Karoune / Creating community awareness of open science practices in phytolith research (OLS2 - Project lead) and also Towards FAIRer phytolith data (OLS3 - Mentor). Impact: Project development in OLS2 (Raising awareness through talks, building a Github repository/webpage and formation of working group) led to a successful funding application to the European Open Science Cloud to fund a FAIR data project. Upskilling in open science skills and open community/project manaagement has led to significant career progression and greater opportunities for collaboration with several organisations.

  • Q by ET: I’m wondering if anyone has insights/experience on providing support for remote participation for online events? Our participants’ requests include headsets, data bundles/internet subscription and fuel for power, but I’m lost on how to budget/put a cap on this. Existing practices OBF fellowship: https://www.open-bio.org/2020/03/13/obf-travel-fellowships-update-in-light-of-the-coronavirus-covid-19-%ef%bb%bf/ Developing guidelines for capping and particulars will be shared soon by MS (contact her if want to see a document in progress) SSI fellowship:
