# Some ideas for increasing new member involvement
###### tags: `tutorials` `apprenticeship` `youtube series`
So I watched this week's ol meeting stream and was pondering the onboarding/accessibility issues you raised.
To reinforce the tutorial streams, I thought we could invite people to post their implementations of the concepts addressed in the video. Maybe after the C# stream on collections they made a simple library program that stores books and then sorts them by ISBN. They could share this with the community and get some feedback or inspiration from other people. If a few beginner guys shared stuff then they could get their perspective on the problems and it would be more relatable/less intimidating than talking directly to a veteran about it.
I also had an idea for a comments box system where people could post questions/concerns asynchronously and then more experienced folks could reply. This would be less daunting if they are feeling anxious. It probably wouldn't be anonymous like real comments boxes are, altho that could work. I know this might discourage more traditional forms of social interaction but some people might prefer it.
Some people are a bit shy to post introductions (like you said the percentage of people that have introduced themselves is low), so being able to say their goals and issues without broadcasting them to the whole server could elevate that percentage.
That's all I got for now, but will make another note if anything comes to me.
Cheers.
