# BFTJ first meeting 4/6/2020 ###### tags: `bftj` **goal**: figure out their purpose, who they are, what they want to be, how they want to be seen, what they like/don't like about their online identity currently They don't remember who it's through, they pay a minimal amount They use wordpress They don't want to be the one to trudge through WP, they need an easy way to manage content content is outdated Joe picked it up when he got in Social media aspects are missing it looks decent on mobile NEEDS to start from mobile first perspective get the email and read it from their mobile device Why can't i change the font He would like to handoff the effort. Mark does FB updates, they are more up to date and accurate, it's easier. He uploads pics, etc Some way to push data between FB and the site Remove or add admins to the site, they have accounts to manage it--- i like that a lot Donations, their page is currently poor with a donate link, asks for an amount and sends you to PayPal (needs more options than PayPal) They don't want to lose the ability for people to donate easily, they don't have to want people to attend an event and write a check Website is free to change. They like the logo, and red/black colors Want it to look contemporary. It feels like it looks old. Easy to use as possible, for fundraising. Main purpose: not donations, but don't want to lose that opportunity. It's outreach, that's the main purpose. Where they are publicizing events/activites. They will have more events than the presentations. They want more capabilities to have events, whether they are online or not. Probably won't get to having their own YouTube channel but they could do events that way. Is the website for people that have or have NOT connected with you previously: Part of what we need to do is get the word out to more people. He has a bunch of new contacts. He hopes that people through the social media will be able to find them. ## if you could change anything about your site, what would it be? Content management. An easy way to keep it current. The board member who did it is no longer there. It's a lot of work to learn it ## if you could describe your business in a few words, what would they be? No vision so far. Fundraising has dipped. No one has contacted them this year for grants. They want to stay **local** Might be more open to the types of grants to organizations/individuals ## how they want to be seen lots of ways for people to raise money (gofundme, facebook).. they want to seem relevant. Want to be contemporary, an easy way to know about them and get in touch. It's very word of mouth right now. ## why choose you to donate the relationship the board members have in the community. people you trust trying to make a difference. wouldn't stop someone from going to gofundme, they are a different market. ## audience the people they know, work with, those they have relationships. it won't grow a whole lot past that, but would be nice to see it grow. ## how to keep in contact with the donator - email chain, people could get lost in the email clutter - they would like a better way to reach out. not on insta/linkedin yet. - posting on social media - after people donate they could log in and see a little more. - they want to share the story. they go out on FB/website, they are shared at the event. - youtube video stories - youtube video on the home page showing the board members - could go visit the locations of the organizations - links to the other organizations websites/social media. include their social media - integration with Filodex? - nonprofit startups are overwhelming - could drive non donors to the site # are donations anonymnous - some are, some are not - cash donations at the event are anonymous, they don't want receipts - most doantions are - mark and delana started it - they all went through the same leadership training # concerns, moving forward - pricing - very minimal fees - keep the cost low - tools/frameworks - deadline - none given, let's see how the conversation goes and plan around it - requirements gathering - meetings - evening time every few weeks - bring them on the weekly stream # questions - can we have an open source repo - can we use their logo
