See https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Iepb9D06Xt3UH32IqlzGnumOZkiGz8I77CxrXP7rkUY/edit for the original OMERO Development Priorities and Roadmap meeting ## 2023-07-18 Attending: Guillaume Gay, Sebastien Besson, Jean-Marie Burel - The main topic was more on deployment strategies and workflows than Continuous Integration per se. The general direction was a focus on Ansible which sounds like a fairly large common ground, with docker -images as thin wrappers around that (as is the case already). - The migration out of CentOS7 could be the occasion of some refactoring (Sébastien talked about building a collection as an umbrella for the multiple roles). This could mean a single version control for all the roles. - From the side of France BioImaging, there is much interest in getting to know the whole ansible stack, as well as having debian base OS. As Sébastien pointed out, it is not easy to know what should be common and what is institution specific here. Knowing what people use would help. - On the QA / CI side, some people at FBI could be trained on and given access to the jenkins instance at Dundee. We will also setup tests in France on our gitlab, not sure if we should run tests on "live" PRs from ome, or on pre-releases? - Where we can help more directly is on functional tests. My colleague Marc could be tasked on running functional tests on the Jenkins builds. - Security and code review are much harder for us as we lack the technical expertise (both for java and systems security aspects). - Next meeting: TBD after August 16th
