--- tags: I2K, Exported --- # I2K NGFF Attendee First Contact To: Tischi, Will CC: training-support BCC: all attendees for both sessions Subject: I2K Tutorial - Towards a community standard image file format for sharing big image data in the cloud Hi everyone, Thanks for signing up for our workshop next week. We're very much looking forwarding to getting a chance to chat with all of you. We'll be sending a more detailed email before the meeting with links to material and software you can pre-install**, but we thought a first introductory email might be in order. Our general plan for each session is to spend a bit of time going over recent developments in the storage of big image data in the cloud and answer any questions so that we're all on more level footing. Then we would spend the rest of the first two hours demonstrating various packages that are available for you to use with your own data today in Java (Fiji), Python (napari) and Javascript (vizarr). We assume, however, that it won't be possible to get all 35 of you (per session) up to speed on each of these platforms within the first two hours. Instead, we would use whatever remaining time we have to split up into separate breakout rooms where those who are interested can get their hands dirtier. If you have a particular preference for an environment, feel free to let us know. It's not clear that you will be able to work on your own images, but if you have public data that you think might be interesting, get in touch. It might also be intresting to hear what type of "cloud storage" (AWS S3, GCS, Self-hosted, minio, etc.) that you may be using. Or, more broadly, if you have any other questions or concerns before the workshop, don't hesitate to reach out. All the best, - Christian Tischer (EMBL-Heidelberg) - Will Moore (University of Dundee) - Josh Moore (University of Dundee)... no relation ** The quick list of software is: - conda - napari - Fiji
