# Solution

An der Smart City Hackathon in Wetzikon haben wir die Anforderungen an eine Sharing-Plattform für gebrauchte Gegenstände in der Stadtverwaltung eingehend diskutiert. Diese Idee bindet die Grundsätze der Kreislaufwirtschaft und die Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung in die staatlichen Dienstleistungen ein, und das Team fand schnell ein begeistertes Verhältnis bei der Diskussion möglicher Strategien und Lösungen. Wir skizzierten einige der wichtigsten Problembereiche, wie z. B. die Kosten-Nutzen-Unterschiede zwischen den verschiedenen Arten von Shareables.

Wir untersuchten bekannte Beispiele von Peer-to-Peer-Diensten, wie die Carsharing-Genossenschaft Mobility oder die UNICEF-Evaluierung kinderfreundlicher Gemeinden, um einige der gemeinschaftlichen Anreize und Dynamiken zu verstehen, die den Gesamterfolg dieser Plattformen beeinflussen könnten. Ausserdem haben wir nach Alternativen und Open-Source-Tools gesucht, um auf die Herausforderung zu reagieren. Eines unserer Teammitglieder ist sehr vertraut mit der Shareitt-Plattform, die wir für den internen Gebrauch getestet und analysiert haben (private Gruppen sind eine Funktion, die sich derzeit in der Beta-Phase befindet).

We have discussed in detail the requirements of a Sharing Platform for used objects in the municipal administration. This idea ties in Circular Economy principles and Sustainable Development Goals into government services, and the team quickly found an enthusiastic rapport in discussing possible strategies and solutions. We sketched out some of the key problem areas, such as the cost-benefit differences among the different kinds of shareables. We explored well known examples of peer-to-peer services, such as the Mobility car-sharing cooperative or UNICEF's child-friendly municipalities evaluation, to understand some of the community incentives and dynamics that could influence overall success of these platforms.

We further researched alternatives and open source tools to respond to the challenge. One of our team members is very familiar with the Shareitt platform, which we tested and analysed as a fit for internal use (private groups being a feature that is currently in beta-testing). We then used the [Airtable](https://airtable.com) database tool (noting the fact that there are several viable open source alternatives like [Odoo](https://www.odoo.com/), [NoCoDB](https://www.nocodb.com/) and [Proxeus](https://proxeus.org) which could be used for a more sovereign data processing solution) to prototype a basic reservation workflow at the hackathon.
