![](https://i.imgur.com/56C2ubQ.png =200x) # Software Developer coaching with Founders and Coders and Islington Council --- ![](https://i.imgur.com/QfVnoZU.png) --- We are a non-profit founded in 2014 and based in Finsbury Park with a mission to democratise learning and work. --- Every year over 40 people, selected from hundreds, successfully complete our full-time training and find employment as software developers. That's over 250 people in the last 6 years with average starting salaries of £30k+. --- In 2021 we will be running a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Software Development. --- In order to prepare people for what will be a very competive application process, we are now running a coaching programme, funded by the GLA and Islington Council. --- ## What we are looking for ---- ### 1. Commitment Getting to a point where somebody can compete in the job market with computer science graduates is not a small feat. This journey requires serious commitment and a desire to learn. ---- ### 2. Literacy We don't need advanced technical literacy, but we do need good levels of spoken and written English. Good communication skills are as important as technical skills to becoming a successful software developer. ---- ### 3. Residency in Islington Our coaching programme is funded through Islington Council and we are looking (mostly) to support more Islington residents to get onto our programmes. --- ## What we offer - A personal coach - Weekly 2-on-1 tutorials - Online support Monday-Thursday, 10am-6pm (currently all online, but eventually returning to Finsbury Park later in 2021) --- ## What the learner will achieve - An understanding of how to build web sites - Strategies for learning how to learn - Confidence through group learning - Progression at their own speed - Supported application to a Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship or other appropriate training pathway --- ## The commitment - One 90-minute tutorial each week - Access to weekly workshops and coding sessions - 10+ hours per week of self-paced study - Monthly one-on-one supervision - A 4-8 month commitment --- ## The curriculum Primarily, it's all about building websites with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, but learners will acquire many communication and problem-solving skills along the way. --- ## Equipment needed Access to a computer with a good internet connection --- ## How to apply Through Islington Council's [Adult Community Learning website](https://adultlearning.islington.gov.uk/?page=detail&courseCode=FAC946) --- ### Questions? ###### [Founders and Coders](https://www.foundersandcoders.com/)
