# 1960s San Fransisco Monster of the Week Campaign
## The Pitch:
It's the [Summer of Love](https://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_of_Love) in the [City by the Bay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco) and something sinister walks the fog as political unrest rocks the city.
Stange ritual murders have been discovered in seedy motels, people claim to have seen monsters stalking China Town, and the Flower Children whisper about rediscovered magic. The police are powerless to staunch the blood as it starts to flow into the street, and the only people who can save the city are you.
## The Inspiration
### Chinatown

### Vietnam Protests

### The Summer of Love

## The Action:
This is a Monster of the Week Campaign, which is directly inspired by TV shows like Supernatural, Charmed, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The heroes of the story live in a (relatively) modern setting and have to deal with a new monster or threat each session or arc. It tends to be a melding of camp and horror in tone.
Gamplay Resources are available [here](https://www.evilhat.com/home/monster-of-the-week-resources/), including available character class (Called Playbooks here). Feel free to pick and conceptualize anything that appeals to you, but a part of this will be tying your background and history with the other players so don't get too rigid with it. This will be discussed in person during the first session, but everyone's cool so I wouldn't worry about it.
Some ideas for character inspiration:
- 1960s/1970s Channel News were huge in California around this time. (If you wanna play Ron Burgundy)
- The Black Panthers were just getting organized just across the bay at this time.
- The LGBTQ Community is a huge part of the culture of SF, and at this time is beginning to seek public acceptance and legality.
- This was THE peak of the hippie/flower-child movement.
- A huge influx of Hong Kong immigrants changed how Chinatown and the asian communities interacted with the city.
- This was the height of the American-Vietnam War, and wounded veterans were being displaced onto the streets following the failures of the VA Medical System.
- Whatever make YOU, yes YOU happy.
