# Nushell core team meeting 2026-01-21 ## Attendees - Jan - Darren - Michael - Andy - Jack - Douglas - Antoine ## Agenda - [x] release issues? (Thanks again Yash!) - [x] core-team-alumni post in core-team - [x] X/bsky/mastodon/etc - would like to start posting again. Pros vs Cons? - [x] repl [lsp pr](https://github.com/nushell/reedline/pull/1004) - [x] Should we adopt a DCO? ## Discussed Topics ### release no notable issues atm ### socials we want to be respectful but we want to get the word out everywhere possible about nushell ### other we need to come back around to nupm/package managers - Doug's [nubrew](https://github.com/nubrew/nubrew) ### DCO reduces our liability. kind of a pain because every commit needs to have --sign-off. https://www.secondstate.io/articles/dco/ We should continue to discuss this because it is good to limit our liability. there may be some other thing like zed uses too. ### Jack's external completer thing Jack had some ideas about working on a shim between external completers and nushell. he's going to work on something to try and allow a separate step to look in folders for *.nu files that will participate in completions. ### core-team-alumni team agreed that what i proposed in core-team is good to more forward with. Maybe change name to `core-team-lite` :) Darren's note from core-team I'm planning to make a hard-fast rule that states something like the following, "If you're on the core-team but have no contributions to any of our repos or discord for X-months, you'll be moved to core-team-alumni but still be able to participate in the core-team channel." I've thought about it a lot and a hard rule with X amount of time listed is probably best so that everyone knows expectations. Now we just need to: agree on it 1. figure out what X is (i'm thinking 3 months) 2. create a script that looks at a list of core-team members and checks their last PR/commit/issue response 3. figure out how discord can allow alumni in core-team without being core-team 4. move people to alumni in github 5. be clear that if you're contributing, you're welcome back any time on core-team ### Jan9103 jan gave us a good-bye message. they are prioritizing their mental health and won't be on discord any longer. Sad to see you go Jan. You've been a great "Helpful Hero" for nushell. You're welcome back when/if you choose.
