## General usage for linux

## Distribution tree
Unlike windows or macOS that are closed-sourced and controlled by a single company, linux or (gnu in general) are open-sourced operating systems that everyone are free to modify and make their own. Hence different version of linux from different people are called "distribution" or "distro" for short. The following graph shows the evolution of some of the most famous linux distro.
