# NeIC proposal ideas for a Nordic-RSE service If we wanted a cross-institution service, how would we motivate it? These motivations could also be used for national RSE proposals - What do other countries do in getting their funding? - all the normal RSE arguments - If institution A has a RSE that B needs, how can they collaborate? Silos are too great - Many public institutions are too small to hire their own advanced RSEs - even though they likely have some already - These existing staff could be motivated - Universities tend to have IT services and some sort of research administration services. But in many places IT tends to focus on operational aspects, and doesn't go deep into research. We can promote this. Success stories from other "country-wise" RSE projects on when they got funding. Eg. US-RSE, SSI and UK RSE, DE-RSE , NL-RSE (not sure if they got anything directly, maybe eScience center? )
