# Introduction One of WEB3DEV's greatest strengths is its community—and every good community is made of friends. There's nothing better than socializing to make friends, and that's the goal of Web3 Hour. ### What is Web3 Hour? Web3 Hour is a happy hour for people interested in chatting and connecting around topics related to Web3. It's a weekly meetup held at a bar or restaurant with the sole purpose of bringing people together. The purpose of Web3 Hour is **purely socialization**. ### What Web3 Hour is NOT Web3 Hour is not a formal event and has no educational or learning goals, although it's natural for people to learn just by being together. It’s not bureaucratic and has no agenda, topics, or predefined themes. It’s not a meetup exclusively for programmers or developers—it’s open to everyone. ### Who is it for? Although Web3 Hour was born within WEB3DEV, a software developer community, the event is **open to anyone, from any profession and with any level of knowledge**, who wants to connect with others interested in Web3 in general. ### What’s the format? It’s a casual meetup at a bar or café to have a beer or a coffee and enjoy open conversation. It happens weekly at the same time and place. It’s very important that each city defines a fixed day of the week, time, and location so that anyone who wants to join can simply show up without having to check a calendar. # How to Join a Meetup There are 3 very simple steps: 1. Check the meetup in your city on the list of active cities 2. Show up on the scheduled day, time, and location 3. Say hi to everyone and have fun 🎉 # How to Start in My City To start a meetup, all it takes is at least two people in the same city willing to meet every week at the same time. That’s it. These founding members are responsible for deciding: * [ ] The day of the week the meetup will happen * [ ] The starting time (there’s no set end time) * [ ] The meetup location It’s up to the founders to choose whether it’s at a bar, restaurant, or café—whatever suits them best. A tip: avoid offices or co-working spaces, since the goal is to socialize. It’s important **not** to define topics or agendas for the weekly meetups. The idea is to keep it casual and require absolutely no preparation. Founding members don’t need to have Web3 knowledge to start a new city meetup. Once that’s defined, just post in the #web3hour channel on the [WEB3DEV Discord](https://discord.web3dev.com.br), and the community managers will help with the next steps. # Tips for Running a Meetup Once your city is officially part of the WEB3DEV community, it’s time to meet up! Here are some tips to help make your city's Web3 Hour a success: ### Venue Choose a bar, restaurant, or café that serves food and drinks. The informal, social aspect is very important. We discourage meeting in offices or co-working spaces. Pick a venue that’s accessible and inclusive. It’s best to choose places that allow individual tabs or offer personal bills—it makes payments easier and avoids putting the burden on whoever stays until the end. ### Consistency Consistency is the most important factor for making your meetup work in your city. It’s very likely that the first few meetups will only include the founding members. It can take a few weeks for more people to hear about it and start joining. So it’s important to stay committed and keep the regular schedule until it gains momentum. ### Reminders It’s always good to remind participants on the day of the event. Every meetup day, post a message in your city’s channel with the time and address—ideally with a Google Maps link. ### Photos While the meetup is happening, take photos of the group. This is important for a few reasons: * It’s the best way to encourage those who haven’t attended yet to join next time * It helps capture the great moments we experience together in the community * It’s helpful for groups that want to apply for the [WEB3DEV grant](grant-a-web3dev-paga-a-conta.md) Post your photos in the meetup photos channel on the [WEB3DEV Discord](https://discord.web3dev.com.br). ### Code of Conduct The community [Code of Conduct](dicas-para-rodar-um-encontro.md#codigo-de-conduta) also applies to Web3 Hour meetups. # Grant: WEB3DEV Covers the Bill To encourage the organization of Web3 Hours and bring more and more people into this beautiful new world, WEB3DEV is offering a grant to groups that stay committed and maintain a minimum cadence. The grant is meant to help cover the cost of the meetup! Here are some rules: * The number of consecutive meetups will determine grant eligibility and value; * If the group skips a week, the count resets to zero; * Each meetup must have at least 3 participants (they don’t need to be the same people every time). If there are fewer than 3, the count resets to zero; * Founders don’t need to be present for the meetup to count; * Only groups that complete 4 consecutive meetups are eligible for the grant; * To confirm a meetup, the group must post a photo of each meetup on the WEB3DEV Discord; * After any meetup where the grant was paid, the group must post a picture of the receipt from the restaurant; * Each group is free to decide how to use the grant money—whether to pay part of the total bill, split it among attendees, or cover the cost for someone who can only join with financial help; * Each city group will receive a Gnosis Safe multi-signature wallet, set up with 2-of-3 execution: two founders and one WEB3DEV administrator; * The grant is paid in USDC on Polygon to the city group’s wallet. | Consecutive Meetups | Grant (USD) | | ------------------- | --------------- | | 4 to 8 | $20/meetup | | 8 to 16 | $30/meetup | | 16 to 24 | $40/meetup | | Over 24 | $50/meetup | After 4 consecutive meetups, the group receives $20 for the fifth meetup, and so on. After 8 consecutive meetups, the group starts receiving $30 for future ones. {% hint style="warning" %} The grant is a temporary campaign and may be changed at any time. {% endhint %}
