# Add new 1kv Validators

1. [Go to the Kusama / Polkadot candidates json lists linked here](https://github.com/w3f/1k-validators-be/tree/master/candidates)

2. Open the file on the github site, and click 'Edit this file' on the right bar


3. Add any new validators at the bottom of the list before the ending `]` bracket (be sure to add a comma after the last `}` of the previous last validator)


4. After adding validators scroll back to the top and hit `Commit Changes`


5. Select `Create a new branch for this commit and start a pull request`


6. Hit `Create Pull Request` (a description and title aren't really needed)


7. Copy and paste either the `Second` purple box into the Onboarded column if its a second node, or the green `Yes` if it's a first node


8. For kusama validators invite them to the `Kusama Thousand Validators` and `1kV-Announcements` matrix channels, or for Polkadot validators add them to the `Polkadot Thousand Validators` matrix channel
